let me start by saying that this is my first post on StR, i've been trolling around for about a year and decided after this whole Arena debacle that i'd chime in(because im sure you guys would love to hear about what i think)
Normally i wouldn't even bother to post my thoughts but i haven't heard read anyone who has considered this yet...
So my theory is that David Stern has known/know the Maloofs are broke, and knew full well that there was no way they were going to be able to complete this arena deal once brought forth. However, i do believe Stern tried to do best by the city of Sac and force the maloofs into a position where the NBA would be able to either A) take over the team or B)force them to sell.
So as we all found out in regards to the arena deal that the NBA was going to "pay" for the maloof portion, 74 mil i believe was the amount, 7 of it free money and the rest in the form of a loan/credit. Now from the outside looking in it seems like the NBA is being overly nice to our worthless broke owners. HOWEVERRRRRR if you break down this deal i think you'll see what Stern and the NBA was really doing was trying to get the maloofs to take the deal knowing full well they wouldn't be able to pay it at some point down the road. thus allowing the NBA to call in the debt on that loan, forcing the team to be sold.
Now i know this all soudns very conspiracy theory like, but without going into all the other details associated with the Arena that we all know i think it starts falling into place that the NBA was trying very hard to either get an arena done, or make the maloofs sell..
Well that is all i got, so hopefully you guys don't burn me to hard for my first post.
