My take: both are terrible choices. There's already an Angels team in a certain city which Sacramentans shall-not-name. Yes, there's 2 Giants, 2 Kings, 2 Cardinals, 2 Panthers, 2 Jets, and used to be 2 Oilers in different sports, but that shouldn't be an excuse. More diversity please. The opinion seems to be that because Benson owns the Saints, he wants to keep the heavenly theme for brand integration, meaning the black & gold color would probably come over from the Saints too. The first thing I thought of when I saw Spirit was WNBA team name. After all, look at the proliferation of team names there: Liberty, Shock, Fever, Dream. What happened to having nouns as mascots? What do other Kings fans think?
