If the Cavs don't move up to No. 2 to take Beal, this is between Barnes and Kidd-Gilchrist. Both camps are confident their guy is the guy in Cleveland. But after hearing on Monday that Barnes was, in fact, the pick, it looks like the pendulum has swung back in MKG's direction. Both guys desperately don't want to go to Sacramento. If I'm Chris Grant, I make them go one-on-one, Kwame Brown-Tyson Chandler style, on Thursday morning.

A. I'm pretty sure we're missing the word "agents" in there. As in, "Both guys' agents desperately don't want to go to Sacramento," something I actually don't doubt one bit. You can't convince me that these guys wouldn't want to play with DeMarcus Cousins and the gang, and for Keith Smart. The franchise is a mess, so ... yeah, duh?

B. What are the odds that the actual pendulum inside Chris Grant's head is still swinging? What new information or arguments are being filtered in at this point? Chances are that the outlook on a trade for No. 2 -- which Charlotte will delay until the absolute last minute to drive up the price -- continue to ebb and flow, because this is a real live market. That's more likely the pendulum swinging here -- not an internal debate on Barnes vs. MKG. (I could be wrong, of course.)
