The Toronto Raptors are willing to trade their 1st round pick (#8) for "an elite small forward."

I would think about taking PG Damien Lilliard. Many of you will say, "But we have a very good PG in Thomas." Yes, Thomas was a great surprise this past year, but in reality he is more of a short term idea to start (pun intended). IF we take Damien Lilliard, Thomas will be our back up/spot starter at PG, much like Bobby Jackson behind Mike Bibby back in the glory days.
Some of you will also say that the Raptors wouldn't have the cap space to take on such contract as Salmon's and 'Cisco, but they have nine impending free agents and it would be unrealistic for them to retain all. And with taking on the hefty contracts they will be easier to stay above the cap floor which they were worried about. http://www.hoopsworld.com/2012-nba-free-agents
Yes, I realize that Tyreke Evans is not an "elite small forward," but I think that with his athleticsim he has the potential (he already is a great perimeter defender.) And pairing him with MT would give the Raptors a high scoring guard.
One last point: if we trade MT, that opens to spot on the perimeter. If Bradley Beal would happen to fall down to our 5 spot, we could take him to replace MT. BY trading 'Reke and MT, that leaves our options a lot better at the 5 spot allowing us to the the BPA be it MGK, Beal, Barnes or Robinson.
Yes, no, maybe so? Leave your comment below.
