The question was posed by:
That last Kentucky team probably could have beat last years Bobcats they really were that bad, and Kentucky really was that good by HeuristicLineup on Jul 7, 2012 9:47 AM PDT
Is it really like trying to compare apples with oranges - last year's worst NBA team, Charlotte Bobcats to last season's best college basketball team, the Kentucky Wildcats?
Charlotte did not have any of its players in the Top 10. It didn't have any in the Top 20 or Top 30. The top player for Charlotte went to their rookie Kemba Walker, who had a PER of 14.98, a hair below average, ranking him at 136 among all NBA players, last season.
The Kentucky class last season consisted of the number one 2012 NBA Draft pick, Anthony Davis, along with teammate, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, the number two 2012 NBA Draft pick. Others selected in the first two rounds of the draft, included Terence Jones at 18, Marquis Teague at 29, and Doran Lamb, at 42.
Looking to see how top rookies from the previous draft compared. Last year's 2012 Rookie of the Year, Kyrie Iving, ranked 23rd with a PER of 21.49. It would be reasonable to expect that last year's Kentucky class of Anthony Davis would have a comparable ranking in the 2012-13 season.
