Being a Kings Fan
I moved to Sacramento in the 1990s and have always thought that one should be a fan of the home town team and that one should support that team essentially forever. I hold bandwagon fans with disdain or fans of national teams such as the Yankees, Lakers and Steelers/Cowboys with a degree of disdain.
Having had kids and as I advance into my middle ages I don’t get as emotionally invested in professional sports like I used to. I find the way the Maloofs who have handled this new arena issue to their owning/running of this team to be nothing short of a disgrace. I happened to be listening to 1140 when a caller asked Grant why should he be a fan of the Kings why should they be a fan. Grant yelled him down and said that why not become a fan of the Nets as they have a rich owner and that he should just accept that the Maloof’s own the team.
To me this is beyond offensive while the Maloof family maybe the current owners of the Kings, I think as a fan this is our team, and fans deserve better to get treated like this. We have an emotional connection to this team and frankly we deserve better, while this douchebag family may currently own this team currently don’t you dare take us for granted. I’m not going to rehash the arena debacle or any number of other issues impacting the Kings of late. It just angers me when fans like us get taken for granted or worse treated with contempt.
