The Sacramento Kings today released the full 18 man Training Camp Roster, which starts next week in Colorado Springs. The roster includes the 14 players under contract as well as Tony Mitchell, Hamady N'Diaye, Willie Reed and Cyril Awere. Reed, N'Diaye and Awere are all big men.
Mitchell and N'Diaye are probably the two with the best chance of making the opening night roster. Mitchell impressed the team in Summer League, and could be in direct competition with Tyler Honeycutt for a roster spot. N'Diaye is the only big man of the three with NBA experience. Willie Reed played college basketball at St. Louis where he was a solid rebounder and shotblocker. Little is known about Awere, a Nigerian center who plays basketball for Stade Nabeulien in Tunisia. With the addition of N'Diaye, Reed and Awere on the roster, it seems clear the Kings want to add a bit more big man depth.
Training Camp starts Oct. 3rd in Colorado Springs and lasts about a week before the Kings first Pre-Season game against the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 10th. Intrepid Sactown Royalty reporter Greg Wissinger will be on site for some of training camp, so look forward to that.
