We need to stop all of the FTM talk, and support the team and the Maloofs.
I know, I know. They deserve it, I believe that with all my heart. Every fiber of my being hates them for their dirty, underhanded, back-room wheeling and dealing in regards to this team. I honestly think that the fans of this team, don't have an issue with the Maloof family selling the team. As a business decision it makes sense. The problem is, the way it was done has the perception of being petty and vindictive towards the Mayor, the city, and the fans.
Grant said something today, which has been rattling around in my brain, but never as concisely as he said it. Basically, a caller said the same things I just said..."Dirty, backroom...etc...". Grant said (I paraphrase) "The past doesn't matter now. All that matters is the Mayor getting a competitive bid from an ownership group that is committed to keep the team, and an arena deal that is ready to go. Everything that has happened before, means nothing."
I agree totally, with one exception. We also need to show the league and the BOG that this city is ready to sell out the arena for another 19 of 28 seasons. They certainly see the pledges from the fans at herewebuy.org, the local businesses pledging advertising money for a new arena, and local investors pledging a million dollars each for the ownership group. It may or may not make a difference, but they will see it, and it has to factor in their decision.
So here it is...Sell out as many games as we can. Go to the games, even buy gear and food, put the feelings about the Maloofs away and spend spend spend.
Sorry if I ramble, it all makes sense in my mind. It doesn't always translate to the page.
