Word is that Mayor Kevin Johnson's special announcement he foreshadowed on Twitter late Friday won't be about the arena at all. Instead, the announcement is expected to be that LeBron James of the Heat will speak at a St. Hope fundraiser on Friday before Miami and Sacramento face off on Saturday.

Understandably, many fans around here got excited (myself included) when KJ tweeted about an announcement and the Kings in the same breath. But, yeah, false alarm. No harm, no foul. At least the Virginia Beach deal is on death's door, right?

I hope we're wrong about this KJ thing, by the way. No doubt reporters will be following up with the mayor.
