For Jason Thompson this is his chance to shine. We’ve all seen those games where Jason Thompson went beast and single-handedly carried the Kings to victory. We’ve also seen those games where he fades off in the team offense and loses his role to offseason acquisitions.
Look, it’s not that I’m at my wit’s end with Thompson, but if there was ever a moment where the team needed him to perform it is this time here. Jason Thompson has a chance- presumably- to play alongside Greivis Vasquez which could lead to some easier baskets down low. A nudge in the stats wouldn’t hurt. Thompson’s numbers are in fact decent. I’m not dogging the guy here. 10.9 points per is nice as are the nearly seven rebounds per game he averages.
The Kings not only need that from JT they need more with Landry out. Following surgery Carl Landry could be back right around the All-Star break. For the Kings to have any kind of shot at a playoff push Jason will have to hold down the fort with his play. No one and i mean no one has a bigger chance to shine in the power forward role than Jason Thompson here. Let’s hope he takes it and runs with it.
