If you're curious, I am on a full blown "get Vasquez the hell out of here" campaign and for good reason. With that mindset, i thought, how is Monta Ellis doing? The guy the Vivek was supposedly in love with and really wanted to sign in the past offseason. As of now, (small sample size kind of) he is averaging 24 ppg 6 apg 3 rpg 2 spg on 49% from the field and 35% from 3. He is averaging 4 TO per game which doesn't give him the great A/TO ratio.
That said (i don't know if anyone has had a chance to watch him play for the Mavs yet this year) does anyone wish we would've signed him? I know the general consensus here was no because he was a ball hog and inefficient etc. but thus far, as i said somewhat of a small sample size, he hasn't been the guy most of us thought he would be. He can get to any spot on the floor at any time, can create on a dime and has been a lot more efficient on his 3 pt shooting so far. Add to that the fact that he is scoring 24 ppg and i think i'd love to have had him, especially if it was at the expense of not getting Greivis Vasquez. Him starting and Isaiah coming in off the bench to provide the same kind of spark seems to be a dynamic threat that would've probably had our record at or above .500 right now.
I'm not going to go on a huge tirade as this was just a thought that popped into my head but how does everyone feel about Monta Ellis?
