After witnessing our new GM being active in turning over the old King's roster, we all wonder what his next great trade will be. After reading about Bynum's suspension in Cleveland and how most of his contract is not guaranteed, is Bynum the next target that Pete is aiming for? Bynum's contract for this year is $12.2 mil, but only becomes guaranteed after Jan 7th. His last year is a team option which makes it pretty mute if a team was waives him prior to Jan 7th. Is this an opportunity that the Kings can take advantage of?
Would trading any of the following combinations for Bynum (salary dump) and the draft pick owed to Cleveland?
Jason Thompson + Marcus Thorton
Marcus Thorton + Jimmer Fredette
I think Pete wants to get rid of JT's contract since it is still has 3 more years after this season and JT is not producing. I would love him to be able to do that as well as be rid of the draft pick restriction placed on the team from the Casspi trade of years ago. With trade restrictions still placed on 4 of the current Kings, there is not a lot of pieces for Pete to work with before the Jan 7th deadline.
Also, I wonder if Cleveland doesn't offer up Bynum to Houston in order to get Asik from them. Kind of makes sense for both sides if they can get the numbers to work.
UPDATE: Was seeing the report of Bynum for Gasol trade report and was wondering if the following might be a little better:
Lakers gets Bynum + Jason Thompson
Cleveland gets Pau Gasol
Sacramento gets Chris Kaman + CJ Miles (both on expiring contracts)
I think Cleveland and Sacramento would do this deal in a heart beat. Not so sure about the Lakers thou.
