As you guys might have remember, the Pistons and the Knicks played a regular season game in London, and this is what Stern said about "enormous opportunity:
NBA Commissioner Stern in London talks basketball (via LevantTV)
And this just get me so furious on him. Europe right now suffer a huge economic setback, Basketball Titans in Europe are mainly from Italy, Greece and Spain. All three countries economy are like the Maloofs now, goddamn broke and nearly into bankruptcies since 3-4 years ago. The other counties like France, Germany and UK shares less successful basketball leagues and have a very small fanbase in their country.
And you want to expand there? Major opportunity? There are a dozens cities in the US that has all the bases for a professional basketball team. Markets maybe larger than the European cities, fans more passionate as the rest of the world focus on football(soccer).
As so many pointed out, expansion is the best solution right now, and the league is only one statement away to do it. I just see no reason why not expend a team at the very least for the current situation right now, if you have your mindset on Europe......
