The Kings almost landed 2011 second-round pick Jeremy Tyler in a deadline day trade with the Warriors, reports Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle. But as Golden State pursued a trade for Charles Jenkins, needing to deal both to slide under the luxury tax line, the deal with Sacramento mysteriously fell apart. (Perhaps discussions got too close to nap time at 1 Arena Drive.) Tyler was eventually dealt to the Hawks for a second-round pick. Golden State did escape the tax by about $700,000.

Simmons reports that the Warriors would have paid the Kings to take Tyler, because of course. That could why the deal fell through -- it has not been reported that Atlanta sent Golden State any cash in their deal. The Warriors also found a home for Jenkins (the Sixers) at the last minute.

Tyler has played very limited minutes over two years despite rampant frontcourt injuries for Golden State. His per-minute numbers are not good, but he is quite young (21) and athletic.
