This city and this community of fans are truly amazing! After only 3 days of this post we have been able to raise enough for 604 tickets to donate to two charities; tickets that will be going to kids and families that otherwise would not have been able to attend a game. For this reason, we are shutting this down early lol. Saying the response has been overwhelming would be an understatement. When we started this we hoped and planned for maybe 200 tickets, 250 max. As the donations started to come in we set up the goal of 525 tickets, and as we passed that number we decided it would be best if we stopped the campaign and concentrated on the purchase and delivery of these tickets (this will happen tomorrow and Friday). The email in the account should no longer work and all HTML buttons will be removed from the different sites they are at. We have records of every single penny we have gotten and will keep these for our records. Hope to give you some info once tickets are delivered. Thanks again to all of you for making this happen.
If you would still like to help, please find another fan in the comments who would take some tickets; I'm sure there are plenty out there. This post will stay open for that reason. Let's keep filling the place up!!
The commitment and generosity of Kings fans in the Here We Buy night thread is simply amazing. Seeing strangers buying tickets for each other, sometimes being on opposite sides of the globe, is a huge reason why this city is still fighting to keep this team here, and thanks to the request of many I'm creating this thread to facilitate the exchange. There are two ways we can make this happen:
1. Use this thread to connect with fans if you'd like to purchase ticket and directly donate them. This is the same others have done in the other post. I picture it working something like this: those willing to buy tickets write a comment and a possible recipient would reply to it with his/her email. Then it is up to those people to connect and find the best way of making the exchange happen. As Kfipp said half jokingly in the other post, if you're getting a ticket donated to you, we expect you to be loud and crazy on Saturday. You won't be the only one, trust me!
2. Donations are now closed because you're too freaking awesome!!
Update 1: As of Monday at 11:45pm we have $2,709.21 in donations. This is good for 172 tickets that will be donated to the COS foundation. Just amazing what you have all accomplished in less than 24 hours!!
Update 2: As of Tuesday at 10:30pm we have $6,310.64 in donations, good for 400 tickets!! This is waaaayy beyond what any of us expected and it is truly an honor to be able to put these donations to great use. As Kevin mentioned in the comments, we have set up a goal of 525 tickets and have already agreed to distribute these not to just COS but also a second organization that we have brought on board, due to the overwhelming response we have gotten from this community. We will teaming up with 3fold Communications, a full service marketing agency that works with nonprofits, local schools, local sports programs, and children/family programs. Like COS, 3fold has the access to families and children that would otherwise not be able to attend games. We cannot wait to deliver these tickets on Friday. Thank you all so much!!
