The Here We Buy Night ticket drive was a magnificent success beyond our wildest dreams. We wanted to buy 200 tickets when we launched. Kevin and Ed are buying 622 this morning.
Pat yourselves on the backs, everyone. The Here We Buy Night ticket drive is over ... because we destroyed all expectations. Here's what Ed wrote in the donation thread ...
This city and this community of fans are truly amazing! After only 3 days of this post we have been able to raise enough for 604 tickets to donate to two charities; tickets that will be going to kids and families that otherwise would not have been able to attend a game. For this reason, we are shutting this down early lol. Saying the response has been overwhelming would be an understatement. When we started this we hoped and planned for maybe 200 tickets, 250 max. As the donations started to come in we set up the goal of 525 tickets, and as we passed that number we decided it would be best if we stopped the campaign and concentrated on the purchase and delivery of these tickets (this will happen tomorrow and Friday). The email in the account should no longer work and all HTML buttons will be removed from the different sites they are at. We have records of every single penny we have gotten and will keep these for our records. Hope to give you some info once tickets are delivered. Thanks again to all of you for making this happen.
If you would still like to help, please find another fan in the comments who would take some tickets; I'm sure there are plenty out there. Let's keep filling the place up!!
Since Ed and Kevin won't do it themselves: a HUGE round of applause of Ed and Kevin. They have been spending tons of time promoting the initiative and tracking/recording donations. Thursday and Friday, they'll be buying the tickets and getting them to three youth organizations, including the COS Foundation. Two of those three organizations will be distributing tickets to smaller youth organizations around the region.
Huge thanks also go out to the full Here We Stay/Here We Buy contingent, Carmichael Dave, the folks at Sports 1140 (especially Jason Ross and Deuce Mason, and of course our friend Grant Napear), Crown Downtown, the media who have covered the drive and of course every single person who was able to make a donation. This is all humbling and amazing to me.
We still need more people at the game. There are still StR members hoping to score some tickets but without the disposable income to do so. Let's help them out, if you can.
Sac-ra-men-to!
