It's time to finish this relocation saga.
It seems the last couple of weeks of this drawn out fight to save the kings is upon us, and frankly I don't want to just sit on my hands and wait to hear the final verdict. A week ago watching the final game of the season vs. the Clippers, I felt confident that I'd be seeing the Kings playing in Sacramento again next year, but talking to people during the last week (I live in Phoenix) has opened my eyes to how many people there are that still think, "welp, Seattle is bigger and their new owners are loaded. It's sad for Sacramento but this is a done deal." The ignorance about the situation disgusts me. But I really cant stand the apathy towards the Sacramento plight.
The average person may not care to take the time to read up on Arena deals or Mal@#fian history to really expunge the ignorance, but maybe, just maybe, in these last few days/weeks we can get some "swing votes" to have more sympathy for our situation, and to realize that keeping the Kings is the right decision.
I think there is considerable power in a well-thought-out picture, video clip, or message to galvanize public opinion in our favor. I'm not sure that these efforts matter in the end, but I think David Stern is cognizant of the public repercussions of the final decision. Let's not make it easy on them.
What ideas do you, StR, have in terms of good videos to post via twitter/facebook, cool pictures to set as timeline photos on facebook, etc? Any ideas regarding some action as a unified front? (i.e. post a selfie with a #wearesacramento hastag or #gokings or something similar?) (sorry I proposed a selfie.) (sorry I called it a selfie.) Also please post success stories that you've had using social media to support the kings during the last few years.
We've been overwhelmed by the actions of KJ, Vivek, Carmichael Dave and others in the lengths they've gone to support the kings. Now it's our turn to impress in whatever sphere of influence, great or small, that we may have.
