NOW that the recommendation has been unanimous by the NBA relocation committee to keep the Kings in Sacramento it is time for the new ownership group to begin discussions with the Zen Master who has transformed NBA teams from playoff wannabes to playoff contenders. Just think of Phil's influence on the most unstable center in the NBA. Imagine Cousins meditating before and after every game. Phil, who we all have vilified over the years would attract an assortment of talented free agents and a veteran or two who could turn this Kings team into a competitive quality product that would be disciplined, skilled and entertaining. The new ownership group which has stepped up to the plate to keep the Kings from relocating and has breathed new life into our capital city with their capital and their vision for a new arena, a revitalized downtown, now has the opportunity to put an exciting product on the parquet while we wait for the ribbon cutting of Staples Center North.
Bringing Phil onboard and shaking up the roster is an intriguing thought. The Kings-Lakers rivalry just got more interesting. Imagine Jeanie Buss wearing a Kings shirt. Now that would add to the irony of ironies.
