A Slam Dunk Solution to the Arena Issue: Eliminate Public Financing of the Arena

The Slam Dunk is probably the most dramatic of all plays in the game of basketball. And to make the slam dunk even more dramatic, if it is combined with an Allyoop Assist, it becomes even prettier. It was clear from the reports coming out of the St. Regis Hotel in New York yesterday that the NBA owners are concerned about potential lawsuits to any arena deal by citizens who are against any public subsidy for the arena. We all know that we live in a litigating society and anyone who knows anything about litigation understands that lawsuits can have significant delays in any construction project, especially one where some people feel that "their" public tax dollars are being used as a subsidy. So the slam dunk solution is to eliminate this obstacle and convince the four "whales" to privately finance the arena. Privately financed arenas are not unheard of and in our situation if we want the NBA owners to make this a Slam Dunk for Sacramento, then the Allyoop Assist by Burkle, Mastrov, Ranadive and Jacobs will undoubtedly seal the deal.
