What if the league does the right thing and votes down Hansen/Ballmer? Then what? The Maloofs have stated categorically that they will not sell the team to the Sacramento group. Regardless whether the league lets Hansen/Ballmer buy 20% of the team (they won't), if the Maloofs refuse to sell the team to the Sacramento group, then what? The league can't force them, except under very dire circumstances. Let's set that aside for a minute...
I am a season ticket holder and have been since 1999. I've seen the good and the bad. Above all, I'm a fan. I've never considered giving up my seats, but if the Maloofs make good on their threat and end up keeping the team, we will be faced with a very difficult decision: Keep funding the Maloofs by buying tickets, merchandise, etc. Or, we can suffocate what's left of their pathetic business by boycotting. There, I said it. As much as I can't imagine letting my tickets slip away and not going to games next season, I just can't stomach supporting the Maloofs with one more dime of my money.
If this actually comes to be, I feel bad for players, coaches, etc. They'll have to play home games in a run down Sleep Train Arena with no one there, but this will be the collateral damage in the war between the Maloofs and the people they clearly care least about, the good people of the Sacramento region.
While I'm ready to renew my tickets under new ownership, not one more dime for the Maloofs. I doubt they read anything here, but they need to know what their strategy of refusing to sell to the Sacramento group has no good end game for them. They need to know that they'll be on the hook for the expenses of running their business next season, but with a dramatically reduced revenue stream to support it. Because we're through funding them. I hope this doesn't have to happen, but if it does, our best step is to run these guys into bankruptcy as fast as we can so the league will step in, take the team, put it in the right hands, and end this nonsense once and for all.
Here We Boycott? If the Maloofs own the team next season, count me in.
