If you read his career history below you will notice one word which is mentioned 6 times: ASSISTANT. While every assistant should have the opportunity to become a head coach you just have to wonder why in 18 years Mike Malone was not tapped to be head coach at any college, NBA Development League Team or even a high school team. I hate to say it but the new owners have missed the boat by not considering a proven veteran with head coaching experience. I know, there are those of you who are saying he deserves a shot. But I fear that we will be in the same situation a year from now and the Kings will keep their record intact of hiring and firing more head coaches than any other NBA team. I would rather see our team set a record for most consecutive playoff appearances. I hope I am wrong about Mike Malone.
