Well first off this is my first "Fanpost" on STR and I'm really just gonna talk about my opinion on the draft but this might not be the most well written FanPost,so I'm just warning you now.
Personally, I think the Kings should pick from these five players in this coming draft:Michael Carter-Williams,Trey Burke,CJ McCollum,Gorgui Dieng, and Shabazz Muhammad.I'm assuming the Kings will stay put at #7 which is why I didn't list many(if any) big names.
Michael Carter-Williams is a guy I think can come in and play immediately and contribute to the Kings in a way the Kings haven't had since Jason Williams.Carter-Williams would come and distribute, and run the ball up like Jason Williams did..Carter-Williams will also fit Coach Malone's system because he works hard and plays defense.I think Carter-Williams can eventually develop into a lockdown defender,a distributor, and a scorer when asked to do so.I do think MCW can also turn out to be one of the biggest busts of this draft because of his inability to create his own shot, his jump shot is pretty bad,and he's going to need to get a whole lot stronger too.
Trey Burke has a nice ceiling and a great floor, and is one of the safest picks in this draft.I have a few concerns about Burke though, because he's small, not lighting quick, and if he wants to be a scorer that is NOT a good combination.Burke won't be able to defend some of the better point guards either because they'll either go right by him or shoot over him.Burke's floor is Jerryd Bayless, and his ceiling is Ty Lawson/Mike Bibby.
CJ McCollum is a lot similar to Damian Lillard,he is coming from a small school with a chip on his shoulder,he is a scoring point guard but he is willing to pass the ball, and he highly intelligent and he's a leader.McCollum I think is Damian Lillard 2.0.You can never be sure about a guy coming from a small school but I think McCollum has what it takes to be a star in this league.
Gorgui Dieng may just be the most interesting man in this draft, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zbtJzhZLbM)not just because of his on-court play and being relatively new to basketball but because of his attitude of the court. This kid would bring a good attitude to this team and would pair great next to Cousins because of his play style.Dieng would compliment Cousins much like Samuel Dalembert did when he was here.Dieng I think can be a Serge Ibaka type player that blocks shots, hits open mid-range jumpers, and he's a very good passer. He might turnout to be similar to Ekpe Udoh as well.Dieng might be a risk, especially at #7.No matter what I think Dieng will always be at least a rotational player because of his shot blocking and rebounding.
Now finally I'm onto Shabazz Muhammad.Muhammad I think could be a very special player if he gets drafted to the right team, that is able to get his attitude towards a team game rather than a "Me" game.Shabazz reminds much of Paul Pierce on the offensive end because he isn't the quickest guy you'll ever see but he finds ways to get his shot off.If he is going to get on a Pierce type level he'll need to improve his all-around game and I'm not totally sure he can fulfill his potential and if doesn't get his attitude right he might turn out to be a borderline starter/rotational player.
