Greg Oden, who has played just 82 games total since becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, is ready for a comeback, and according to ace Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports the Sacramento Kings are among the myriad teams interesting in his services.
Spears reports that the Heat, Spurs, Cavaliers, Celtics, Pacers, Grizzlies and Mavericks are also registering interest. He hasn't played since late 2009 and expects to be ready by training camp. Repeated knee injuries felled him in the early years of his career.
The only true center the Kings have under contract is DeMarcus Cousins. Jason Thompson has spent lots of time at the position, too.
In his limited action, Oden actually put up pretty spectacular per-minute numbers. But projecting any sort of impact would be a total guess at this point. No one knows how his skills, athleticism and conditioning will have been affected by the injuries and layoff.
I can't imagine Oden will sign for more than a million or two per season.
