It sucks to lose Tyreke. Yet this is probably the best move by the Kings in a long long time. I didn't want to see Tyreke go. Yet we got something amazing from it. We got passing. Now to the Kings fan who is unfamiliar with this concept, it is the act of one player throwing the ball to another. "Like shooting," you might say, but in fact the idea of passing is to not try and make all of your own plays. Now Vasquez comes in with a Assist% in the 40s. The 40s! He is one of the most pass first PGs in the game right now. I have been waiting for a player to come in and pass with this team. And now we have it. All of our other pieces are nice. DMC can be great. Isaiah Thomas will be really good a providing a spark as the 6th man or splitting time with Vasquez as the shoot first half of a shoot first-pass first PG combo. Ben McLemore will shoot lights out. John Salmons will never play again. This is my ideal world. Vasquez will hopefully provided that much needed paradigm shift from, as Bill Simmons calls it, "The Pick Up Team From Hell," to a team which can make the extra pass and get easy buckets. Remember 2001? That masterpiece that was Kings Basketball? I want that again. And that requires passing. And even though we may never get back to the 2001 Webber Kings, I still want to see my team play something closer to basketball than what has been played for the last six years. I say praise this trade. I hate to lose Tyreke, but have just traded him for the ability to pass the basketball.
