DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay listed as Day-to-Day

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Kings star players had their injuries re-evaluated today and are now listed day- to-day.

Last night the Kings lost more than a game, as both DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay succumbed to injuries early on.  Both Gay and Cousins were in walking boots after the game, and Cousins had crutches as well.

Today they had their injuries re-evaluated, and while nothing serious was revealed, both will likely miss a game or two, if not more.  An MRI revealed an Achilles strain for Rudy Gay, and DeMarcus Cousins has a sprained ankle.

The Kings are home for three of the next four games, starting Friday with a visit from the Indiana Pacers, current holders of the NBA's best record, and fresh off a 24 point loss to the Phoenix Suns.

Without Gay and Cousins, the logical replacements in the starting lineup are Derrick Williams for Gay and either Aaron Gray or Quincy Acy for DeMarcus.  Williams was playing well as a starter before Gay's arrival in Sacramento, averaging 12.9 points and 5.4 rebounds on 53.1% from the field.

For Cousins, the ideal replacement would be to move Thompson to Center and have Carl Landry play PF, but Landry is playing limited minutes as he rehabilitates from the hip injury that has kept him out most of this season.

Best wishes to DeMarcus and Rudy on getting better.  Hopefully they aren't out too long.
