As most of you probably are, I am 110% excited that the demolition/groundbreaking of the new arena site in the Downtown Plaza Mall is not too far away from now. Can you imagine that just a little less than a year ago we were being told of the concepts and visions of the new arena from Mayor Johnson and Vivek? Now it's closer to becoming reality!
As happy as I am, however, there is a small part of me that will sort of miss the mall when it starts getting demolished. In my life, I have grown up going to the mall as long as I can remember (since I was a toddler) and used to always look forward coming to the mall to window shop, buy, see movies, etc. It definitely isn't the same anymore, but I will always remember back in the day when the mall was hopping with business.
I found this great article regarding the stores that are closing. Check it out if you have time:
As much as I will somewhat miss the old mall, I am glad some businesses will stay open and will benefit from the construction and will get even more business once the arena is officially open.
Onward to progress!
