After some recent changes in Memphis organization, there's a chance that they will go to another direction and rebuild. At the beginning of the offseason, I was actually hoping for Zach Randolph if we are fortunate enough to get one of the three picks but as our luck in the lottery continues to be nonexistent, settling for a less talent but a player who gives a big impact is ok with me. Here comes the Mike Conley trade which involves our 8th pick plus a filler, which is either Travis Outlaw or Derrick Williams. As a player, Mike Conley can make plays for the team and himself, he can guard his position and he knows Rudy Gay well. Bringing a familiar face for Rudy would make his decision to stay easier, especially if he decides to sign a longer and cheaper contract. With the 8th pick, Memphis can pick Marcus Smart to replace Mike Conley or Doug McDermott to replace Prince as starting SF. I don't really care which player they pick.
With Mike Conley now as a starting PG, it doesn't mean that we have seen the last of Isaiah Thomas. He can be a sixth man just like at the beginning of the season, which would give him so much freedom to score and not worry about the others.
