First time FanPost here, but I wanted to put this out there. I will keep this short and sweet. What if Pete is right on Isaiah?
Many have assumed that the Kings signed Collison because they don't want Isaiah. What if they do want him? I think this may be an evil genius moment for Gru . . .
Let me explain. I think the teams that want Isaiah cannot afford to give him > $6 mil and the the teams that could afford that much do not want/need him. Here is what we know:
- First and foremost, he still has not signed anywhere. There is the obvious wait for LeBron and Melo, but I think this goes deeper than that. Plenty of FAs have signed already. If a team was willing to overpay for Isaiah, they already would have.
- He has not been traded. If there were a S&T option out there and the Kings wanted to do it, they already would have. They signed Collison. If it was to start Collison, then I think they would have moved quickly on Isaiah. If it was not to start Collison, then he is a backup plan and Petey is waiting for the market to state what he already knows. Isaiah will get paid ~$6 mil per year. I think at that level, the Kings will match.
- In the past week we have heard that the team with the most interest is no longer interested (Pistons) and he is visiting a team where he would not start (Suns). This does not sound like a man with choices.
What do you think?
