The saddest thing for me right now about the IT trade isn't the trade exception, isn't not getting Rondo or a replacement pg via trade, and isn't Darren Collison being our projected starting point. All those things are tempered by the fact that the pre-season isn't over yet, the trade deadline hasn't passed, and that Pete D has designs in place that we haven't seen the final form of.
It's simply not being able to see IT and Stauskas play off each other in the coming season. IT having a legitimate shooting outlet who could either score or pass the ball out again after drawing the defense was something my imagination was having a lot of fun with.
I was imagining them running a 2-man game where these two sparkplugs could put up a fast 10-15 points, without the involvement of Cousins or Gay at all necessary.
Maybe Stauskas will play well off of whoever are starting pg is going to be, and maybe McLemore will mature into a legitimate threat like the FO has been hoping.
But all I know right now is that we've been robbed of seeing what IT and Stauskas could have done as our starting backcourt, and that feels like a terrible loss.
