Does anyone have a link to the 2011-2012 recap video they aired at halftime, April 26?
I know this is probably not the place to ask for such a question (is there a general forum for this kind of stuff?). But I was wondering if anyone knows where I can watch the halftime video they aired against the lakers (last game of the season) where it showed all the fans, sacramento support, and all that kind of stuff.
A friend told me I was on it (dressed in a crazy LMFAO kings costume) so I was just trying to see it for myself lol. Again, sorry if this isn't the place to ask, just thought I'd give it a shot. Thanks
2002 Lakers Championship receives *asterik in Bill Simmons Column
In Bill Simmons' article "Which NBA teams deserve the biggest addendum to their trophy?" he basically lists 20 championship teams that were very fortunate to win due to injuries or something else happening. Yes the 2002 Lakers are in there because of the infamous series with the Kings.

What do you guys think about Avery Bradley?
Who are you rooting for in the playoffs?
Hello ladies and gents, here we are again without our team in the playoffs and if we want to continue to watch pro basketball we must turn to alternate teams to follow.. Honestly sometimes I get kind of jealous watching the other teams and fans- it must be nice to follow teams with regular payrolls and owners huh? Maybe one day we’ll be fortunate enough.
Anyways, I was curious as to who everybody was rooting for in the playoffs?
Personally, I like Memphis the most so i went with them...and personal side note i woudn't mind Miami on the east ( I know I know Lebron is a jerk and bla bla bla, but I keep getting into huge arguments with Laker fans (of course) who claim Kobe is the best basketball player playing today (and mind you not career wise, I mean as of right now) and the argument against Lebron is that he cant win anything so it means it negates his whole being. I use to hate Lebron after ‘the decision’ and since he ditched the small market team for a big market and DWade bla bla bla you’ve heard it before… I guess the easiest way for me to put it.. that I’m such a huge Kobe hater that I have turned into a Lebron supporter. If it means Kobe losing then go Lebron
Anyways cast your vote below after the jump-- I know you may be thinking I like multiple teams!! For instance I wouldn’t mind OKC or NY either. So just choose who you most support. .. You may also be thinking ..are we choosing teams with a realistic chance to make it? That’s totally up to you. Im looking forward to seeing the results…of course feel free to express why your rooting for a certain team in the comments.. thanks fellas
Go kings.. summer league…

The Losers Manual for the 2011-2012 Sacramento Kings
For a team that is supposed to have so much young talent, it just seems like the talent never equals the wins. For a team that was supposed to contend for a playoff spot, or at least show some major improvement, 2011-2012 was another season of little growth and a team basically going nowhere. So what went wrong? Why does a team that on any given night that can beat the Houstons, Phoenixs, Utahs of the world, with an arguably more talented roster, fall so far behind those "average" teams in the win column?
My friend asked me, "I saw you beat the Lakers twice, OKC on national TV, and you have Cousins, Evans, Thornton and that star rookie, how in the world did you finish 5th worst?" My best answer is this, I believe this team has been plagued by lack of leadership, players not knowing or accepting their roles, no commitment to defense both individually and as a whole, and generally selfish play.
LACK OF LEADERSHIP
This comes all the way back to Paul Westphal and frankly back to the broke Maloofs not willing to spend any money. Not willing to replace a GM who has lost his grasp on the NBA and his team, and allowing Westphal to linger and poison this franchise for parts of 3 seasons. With Westphal gone, I don't need to harp on that too much, but his impact lingers. Coach Smart has done a solid job trying to bring a positive attitude and accountability to this young roster, but the bar is set sooo low, that some of Smart's bonehead rotations and minute distribution is simply accepted because at least he isn't feuding with his players and trying to force our franchise big man out of town. After our coaching staff, there has been an enormous void in leadership from a player on the court or a "leader" on the team in general. Evans has not been that player, its not his personality and with his diminished role, it wont be him. Cousins is not that player yet, his play might demand respect, but he still has immaturity issues and isn't vocal with his teammates demanding accountability. Some hoped Chuck Hayes would be that guy, next. Thornton is a scorer, but not a vocal team guy, and needs to show he wants to play on both ends of the court. So I would argue the best candidate on this roster to take that role is Isaiah Thomas. Strange a 2nd round rookie is the closest thing to a vocal leader this team has, but thats the case. It would be impossible for Thomas to completely take that role this year as a rookie, who only started half the season, but hopefully IT can demand accountability for players to play to their roles and commit to defense moving forward. IT plays hard, people like him and respect him, he's vocal and he plays the PG, lets hope that equals our team leader.
SELFISH PLAY
This is common among teams near the bottom of the NBA. If we aren't gonna win, I want to get my numbers. No more obvious does this show up in a team ranked 32nd, dead last, in Assist Ratio. And remember this is in a season where numbers are compared to the Bobcats, the worst team in NBA history. The assist rate has a lot to do with players simply not making shots (the Kings finished 31st in 3%), and goes back to bad shooters refusing to play to a role and jacking up shots as soon as they get a chance. (coming up in players accepting roles). JJ Hickson was probably the clearest example of a player thinking selfish on a bad team... this Kings team. JJ shot a horrific 37% for a big man, but Brickson only thought about himself and jacked up something as soon as he touched the ball. A remarkable 173 FGA in only 644 minutes, throwing up a brick almost every 3 minutes, all this with 22 assists all year, playing terrible defense and asking to be traded. Thanks Geoff, that one goes down in the history books, especially when we break down the SFs and no Omri in the next section.
PLAYERS REFUSING TO ACCEPT ROLES
To see where the Kings lose games, we can look no further than the SF position and players not accepting their role as a "role" player. When you enter the game you can do what it takes to help your team win games, or you can think that this is my time to jack up a shot, in this case a 3. The entire reason I started this article was that my eyes told me that Donte Greene seemed to jack a 3 or two every time he entered the game and I felt like he never made them, and guess what... I was right. And this turned out to be true for the entire SF position for the Kings, if you thought the SF position was bad and want to leave it at that, then please stop reading now, it was AWFUL.
The Kings finished 31st in 3%, IT, Jimmer, MT were decent, but the rest, specifically the SF position were AWFUL. There were 13 players in the NBA that shot 99+ 3's and were 29.5% and under, 13, and 4 play SF for the Kings. Read that again, there are 13 players total, 9 in the rest of the NBA and 4 on the Kings (all SFs) that shot 29.5% with 99+ plus attempts. John Salmons at the 29.5 mark, at least he made an adjustment when they weren't going down, he slowed to a 3PA per 11.2 minutes. Francisco Garcia shot 29.0%, but didn't get the memo, and jacked up at an amazing 3 every 6.1 minutes on the court (keep in mind this a bottom 13 3pt shooter in the game putting them up at an amazing rate, probably the highest of any of the bottom 13). Why Garcia was on the court at all, who knows? This brings us to Donte and Tyreke, leaders of the just keep shooting 3s even if they never go in club. Donte finished 3rd to last at 24.8%, jacking one up ever 7.4 minutes on the court, (Toney Douglas 2nd at 23.1%) and Tyreke was by far dead last at 20.2%. Some of this goes back to coaching and leadership, why on a team going nowhere did Garcia, Salmons, Outlaw (26.7%, didnt get enough minutes to qualify), and Greene get a chance to play and why didnt the coaches or leaders tell them to simply STOP SHOOTING! You cant entirely blame a guy like Garcia or Greene for taking a 3 if they are put on the court and left open, but I can blame them for taking so many when they arent going down and I can blame the coaches for not playing our youth, Jimmer, Honeycutt, T Will, and Whiteside instead of constantly running out a retread Cisco, Donte, Fish, and Outlaw. Why didn't these players say to themselves, or a coach tell them, or leader tell them, "You are not shooting 3's well, stop taking them, focus on D, and help your team". This is players not understanding or willing to accept a role and help the team, this is losing basketball.
By comparison, here is what role player wings do on successful teams. I grabbed the first 3 that came to my mind, and checked them. Sepelosha on OKC shoots 29% from the 3 over the last 2 years, at the high end for our SFs, He shoots 1 ever 18.3 minutes, he differs to the better scorers and plays defense. I know, I know we don't have Durant and Westbrook, but we have our better scorers in IT, MT, Cousins, Evans, even Thompson and Jimmer. Matt Barnes with the F******s shoots 32 percent over the last 2 years, better than all our SFs, and yet he shot one ever 10.4 minutes, he differs to the devil and their other scorers. Remember our guys are Garcia (6.1), Outlaw (8.3) and Greene (7.4). Last example is Ronnie Brewer with Chicago, hes an awful 3 pt wing shooter at 25 percent, right in line with our guys, but he buys in and doesn't shoot 3s, he plays defense and takes one every 35 minutes on the floor.
DEFENSE
This brings us to team and individual defense, what many view as the Kings biggest problem. The numbers are pretty simple, 32nd in defensive FG percentage, that's dead last, with the worst team in NBA history in the league. The other damning defensive stat is the Kings giving up 100+ points 35 times, that's 31st in the NBA, only ahead of... you guessed it, Charlotte. So those are team defensive stats, but where do the individuals fit in? I would have to say, for the team defense to be that bad, no matter what our eyes or stats tell us, there can not be a single King that even plays average defense, at least consistently. Cousins draws charges, but he is a bad interior defender. Thornton, Jimmer, and JT are very poor defenders. Some people will probably defend them, but 32nd is 32nd, dead last for a reason. Tyreke, Salmons and Thomas show flashes, but aren't good or consistent enough to make an impact. Chuck Hayes was supposed to make an impact as a stud individual post defender, that did not happen. Chuck was overweight, injured, and ineffective. Any positives because of the Chuck wagon's toughness and post defense were more than negated by his lack of height and athleticism that often killed us on the defensive glass, to be blunt, he just simply cant rebound with 7 footers who can jump over him. I thought Whiteside and Honeycutt showed flashes on D, but for some reason they were not given many minutes and that's on Keith Smart, with a team long out of the race, Smart would not let the kids play. So what can we do? What do we need on defense? The team is screaming for somebody who can protect the rim, Anthony Davis, Whiteside, Dalembert, Josh Smith, Gasol, anybody, I think it has to start there and then everybody else, including the coaches have to buy in.
So why doesn't the talent match the wins, those are the 4 primary reasons. I know people will point to youth, but at some point we have to see some wins. And the majority of the players to blame aren't that young, Garcia, Hayes, Hickson, Greene, and Outlaw. Make Oko the GM.

A quick look at Guards and Wings taken in the top 5 over the past 5 years
Thought it would be interesting to take a look at the guards and wings drafted in the top 5 over the past 5 years. The stats are from this season, so we have rookies through 5th year guys. I sorted the players by points scored. The first table has no player names. The same table with the player names is added below the jump.

Am I the only one who noticed this...
It seems to me that the Atlanta Hawks arena is rather empty for a playoff game. I understand that tickets are expensive or whatever but even with the Celtic fans there are a lot of empty seats. I imagine if the Kings made the playoffs PBP would be packed. Wouldn't the NBA take that into consideration when it comes to the whole relocation situation? I understand that the Maloofs are idiots and don't care, but wouldn't the relocation committee recognize something like this? It seems unreal that a team with such loyal fans can be moved while teams who can't sell out a playoff game aren't even mentioned in moving rumors.
One Door Closes Another One Opens...
It is the end of another season, a bitter-sweet one for me and many of you. It is bitter because our dreams for a new arena with the Kings has essentially been dashed, but sweet because at least that chapter has ended making way for something new and hopefully sweeter in the future.
First of all, I want to apologize to any of you whom I may have offended, either intentionally or unintentionally. I hold no personal animosity to anyone here. None, zip, nada. If you hold one toward me, I am sorry for that. I hope there will not be any lasting grudges and allow a new chapter to unfold with a clean slate.
I have decided to change my avatar. I loved the photoshop one of Cousins as Yoda and want to thank ExG for allowing me to use it. I decided to use a female, well, because I am a female. I feel as though I am an outlier, being female and significantly older than most of you are here. I often feel as though I am a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. (Pause)
I want to thank everyone who responded to any of my fanposts or comments. I think anyone who spends anytime posting comments in this community, learns that the feedback touches you personally. There is some vulnerability just to put yourself out there. Feelings can and do get hurt. I know mine have, so I’m pretty sure some of yours have, as well. An apology by someone who inadvertently hurt my feelings was one of the most touching moments I have had posting comments here.
This is a difficult format to communicate feelings and intentions, because we are not face-to-face. We can not read each one's facial expressions or hear the tone or inflection of our voices. Misinterpretations are not uncommon here. I am just as guilty of misinterpreting things which are written to me.
I didn’t intend to write what I wrote above; it just came out, so I will leave it. I was going to write a personal thank you to all of you. I could list names of people who touched my life in one way or another this past season here on StR, but it would comprise just about everyone here. If you think you might be one of them, you probably are. I won’t list your names, because inevitably I will leave someone off. Just know that you have made a difference.
One last thing, I have enjoyed being a part of StR. No matter what happens in the future, the passion of Sacramento Kings fans is unparalleled. People here do make a difference to each other and to the community at large.

NBA Playoffs Open Thread 4-28
Derrick Rose, the best player on a contending team, suffered a serious non-contact injury to his left knee (ACL). Yikes. That definitely calls to mind Webber's 2003 injury against Dallas.
NBA.com is once again hosting the Drive to the Finals fantasy game. I played it last year. It's not terribly exciting at first, but it picks up toward the end of the playoffs when you're forced to choose less celebrated players like Mario Chalmers or whoever. The details can be found here:
http://fantasy.nba.com/drive/entries/20301/picks/mine
You can create your own public or private league or just play on your own and measure your scores against the TNT analysts. I created a public league yesterday--F*ck the Maloofs II: The Legend of Curly's Gold. (This is the sequel to the league I started last year, F*ck the Maloofs.) You can find it by searching for "Maloofs" in the All Leagues section. Everyone's invited.
Trade Tyreke? Come on now....
Recently sports sites and editorials have suggested that the Kings should consider trading Tyreke "ROY" Evans.
First off, this would be more premature than George Maloof's "nocturnal" activities at the Playboy Suite in the Palms. For a second, lets look 3-4 years in the future. Hopefully the very skilled and incredibly bright owners of our beloved Kings have removed their "cabezas" from a local bovines posterior and we have an arena in downtown Sacremento that the most loyal fan base in the league can take pride in.
As for the NBA lets look at the Western Conference might look like at that time. The Thunder are going to be the perrenial powerhouse at that point and any team wanting to win a championship out West will HAVE to go through them. However, Kobe Bryant and Pao will be in their late 30s as will Dirk Nowitzki. Tim Duncan, unless he pulls a Ponce De Leon, and discovers the fountain of youth will probably be an NBA retiree meaning that 3 of the best teams in the league WONT have that super star player they have had the luxury of having over the past decade. The Clips will have Griffin and Paul but they are also owned by Donald Sterling which shouldnt get anyone too excited even though he did bring in arguably the best PG in the league and we have a "fame addicted reality show starlet" representing us at the draft lottery this year....so TOUCHE!!!! The Grizz should have a decent core for years to come which should keep them competitive as long as Z-Bo doesnt go back "Cheeseburgers and Milkshakes" and Marc Gasol stays pasty and hairy. However, no one should get excited about Houston, Utah, Phoenix, or Minnesota....hell, the Kings win 10 more games this year and they would have been in the hunt.
This brings us back to OUR Kings. I think all of us will agree that Demarcus has the potential to be one of the best big men(if not THE best) in the league for years to come. Only a handful of NBA bigs can effectively guard him and that list will get smaller and smaller as he progresses.......please remember how old he is and some of the things we saw him do this year. We have that pure scorer in Thorton which EVERY team needs and the best pickup the Kings have made in years in T-Will who provides SO MANY intangibles that this team lacks(remember he was the 11th overall pick in the 2009 draft, and we got him for nothing) Thomas was a huge surprise but next year will determine his long term potential.....which i hope is similar to someone like Damon Stoudemares. You cant help but love the guy, but im not sold on his long term viability as the starting PG on a contender. I would hold on to Whiteside and Jimmer as well(since someone needs to buy fish tanks in Sac and I enjoy seeing hickees/curling iron burns on Jimmers neck during timeouts), but everyone else is expendable at this point since they have either hit their ceiling(Thompson, Hayes, Salmons, Garicia) or we have no idea what their ceiling is (Honeycutt, Outlaw, Donte)
This leaves us to Tyreke. He is immensely talented and is ONLY 22 YEARS OLD. Oh and here are the last ten ROYs in the NBA(Steve Francis, Mike Miller, Gasol, Amare, Lebron, Okafor, CP3, Roy, KDurant, Derrick Rose) I mean, name a guy who is that young who cant get into the lane and score with such ease at times like he can...the list is pretty short. Not alot of guys in the league can do some of the things that he does. Does his jump shot suck??? Same answer as "Is George Maloof a financial genius?".....does Tyreke look lost at times?... Same answer as "do Joe and Gavin look retarded in Volcom hats?"....is he truly a leader on the court....yeah, not really seeing it but then again, maybe he doesnt need to be. Bottom Line; He has been a product of his environment and his environment hasnt been stellar. Westphal gave him a "do whatever the f*** you feel like Reke, i really dont care" which was hugely detrimental to his development. He then went from playing PG to SG and now to SF in a three year period, got injured, AND has to adapt to a new coach and style.....give the kid a break if he looks lost. Once again HE IS 22 YEARS OLD...how many 22 YEAR OLDS HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON MOST OF THE TIME ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY LIKLELY HAVE 30 DIFFERENT PEOPLE TELLING THEM 30 DIFFERENT THINGS!!!!!!!!
And even if we do trade him, what vet could we get that somehow takes us to the next level??? Dwight Howard aint coming to Sac......neither is Deron Williams. Rajon Rondo??? Yeah, Danny Ainge has no reason to do so. Vets like that want to play on contenders and we are there yet. And even though i am sure people can think of trades that would work, name one young player in the league with as much upside as Evans who would be available.
The lockout hurt the Kings because they didnt have a training camp and their coach got fired a month into the season...and even though that wouldnt have been a big deal to a veteran laden team, you have one of the youngest teams in the league full of college aged kids trying to figure s*** out. Yeah, that is going to turn out about as well as the idea to build a casino that ISNT EVEN ON THE LAS VEGAS STRIP!!!!!!!!!!......i, kid, i kid
In closing please revisit my initial point that trading Tyreke is a mistake. Right now, you have a decent but INCREDIBLY young core and with any developing team, they need time to play together, mature together, and grow together. Listening to the players give interviews it seems they are sold on Keith Smarts system and if you can get them to buy into that, watch out. Smart is a good coach, knows the league, and more importantly the way the game works. Lets also remember that HE is fairly new to the head coaching ranks but his players respond to him(Jimmer has developed this season), he seems to be always be as positive as he can, they seem to consider themselves a family, and they LIKE EACH OTHER(Demarcus putting on Smarts jacket at the end of that game and trying to coach shows that). Now if you throw in a couple of good(and lucky) drafts in the next two years on top of the continued development of the existing players(by the way, we should get someone like Peja or Glen Rice or Chris Mullin to be Reke's shooting coach....and we need Peja to do a Good Feet commercial because the Yellow Cab/Mike Lamb commercial make me want to stab myself in the knee cap) Then add a couple of shrewd veteran pickups who fill a specific role since our vets are terrible(No offense to Cisco, Salmons, or Outlaw but those are not the types of NBA players for young guys to look up to) and we should be in the hunt in a few years.
So, hold your horses Kings fans.
Regards,
HEY JOEY!!!!!!!!!!!!
