Your Top 50 Sacramento Kings

Joekleine_medium

With the selection of Joe Kleine at #50, we've completed a process that began all the way back on August 15th, ranking nearly a quarter of the players that have suited up in a Sacramento Kings uniform.

We're not done yet though.  Unfortunately, the lockout rages on, leaving us with a lot of free time on our hands.  Someone suggested that we continue to vote and rank for Kings until the lockout ends, which would mean possibly ranking all 210 players in the case of a missed season.

For now though, we're going to take a little break before we continue.  We might do a different ranking for a couple weeks or so, perhaps on the Top 10 Sacramento Kings (non-players edition) or Top 10 Moments in Sacramento Kings history or something.  Maybe both. Feel free to suggest other ideas in the comments.

As for the Top 50 Kings, the full list is after the jump, as well as on the left-hand sidebar.  Nobody is going to agree with the rankings 100% (Ziller has already docked me $3,000 Zillerbucks for not including Donté Greene in the vote), but I think that overall, we did a pretty good job.

Cuttino Mobley is your 49th Greatest Sacramento King of All-Time.  Cuttino came to Sacramento in a trade for Doug Christie.  He only went on to play in the league a few more years because of a heart illness found in a physical when he signed with the New York Knicks.

No one on the corner has swagger like Marcus.

Marcus Thornton is your 48th Greatest Sacramento King of All-Time.  Marcus has only been with us for a short while, but we grew to love him quickly during that time.  Game after game, big shot after big shot, Thornton has won us over.  If he is not back in Sacramento next season, it will be a huge disappointment.

Jim Jackson is your 47th Greatest Sacramento King of All-Time.  Jackson was the ultimate mercenary throughout his career, playing for twelve(!) teams throughout his career and multiple teams most seasons.  That ties the NBA record, although Joe Smith might break it this upcoming season.

Carl-landry_medium

Carl Landry is your 46th Greatest Sacramento King of All-Time.  Top Hat (read this thread if you haven't. Or if you have. It's still hilarious) came to Sacramento in the much debated Kevin Martin trade and left in another trade for Marcus Thornton.  Landry didn't turn out to be the PF of the future we had hoped he'd be but he was a class act during his time here.  Carl is one of the nicest people I've ever met, and it was rare to see him without a huge smile on his face.  Wherever he goes, I know I'll be rooting for him.

Sarunas looks like Beno after P-90x

Sarunas Marciulionis is your 45th Greatest Sacramento King of All-Time.  Marciulionis was a pioneer for Europeans in the NBA, one of the first to receive major playing time in the league.  He only played with the Kings for a season, but they did make the playoffs that year.

Ranking the Top 50 Sacramento Kings, Pick No. 45

Edney_medium

Tyus Edney is your 44th Greatest Sacramento King of All-Time.  A 2nd round draft pick in 1995, Edney helped take the Kings to the playoffs as a rookie starting point guard. Also in yesterday's vote, I included a poll asking if I should continue this series until the lockout ends... More yes than no votes were tabulated so there you have it.  I might take a break at 50 for a week or so, but we will soldier on.  May God have mercy on our souls.

Ranking the Top 50 Sacramento Kings, Pick No. 44

No, I don't know why he's wearing a jock strap on his face either.

Harold Pressley is your 43rd Greatest Sacramento King of All-Time.  Pressley was one of those rare players who played his entire career with Sacramento, leaving for Europe after his Kings career.  Pressley also briefly served as Director of Player Development for the Kings back in 2007, a job currently held by Fat Lever.
