Recap: Washington vs. Orlando

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Dwight Howard scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Orlando Magic in a 105-90 victory over the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center.

Hedo Turkoglu added 20 points and hauled in 10 boards for the Magic, who have won three in a row and eight of nine overall. Rashard Lewis and Mickael Pietrus gave 17 points each.

Caron Butler had 25 points and six assists for the Wizards, who were coming off a 124-100 drubbing of Golden State on Tuesday but have dropped six of seven overall. Antawn Jamison ended with 17 points and 12 boards in defeat.

The Magic were up 38-25 after the first quarter, and held a 55-44 lead at the break.

An Anthony Johnson three-pointer pushed the Orlando lead to 71-49 right around the seven-minute mark of the third quarter and the teams continued to trade baskets with the Magic's lead hovering around 20 points.

Orlando headed into the final stanza up 86-65 and a Pietrus jumper gave the Magic an 88-65 lead early in the fourth frame. Dee Brown's layup with just under 5 1/2 minutes left brought the Wizards within 95-79 but Washington was unable to close with a run down the stretch and Orlando claimed the victory.

Washington matched its worst start at 2-11 (1961 & 1966)...Orlando is an impressive 6-1 on the road this season...Magic point guard Jameer Nelson was out with a strained right hip flexor...Orlando has won six of its last seven games over the Wizards, including four straight at the Verizon Center...Johnson finished with a game-high 12 assists...Darius Songaila netted 12 points off the bench for Washington.
