Game #8: at Golden State
After last night's win over the Memphis Grizzlies, the Kings share first place with those NBA giants, the LA Clippers. But we should keep in mind it's early in the season, and the Kings aren't the only team turning heads in Northern California. While Sacramento has won four straight, going unbeaten at Arco, the Warriors have done equally well, winning four contests at the newly named Oracle Arena. One of those streaks will end tonight.
Meanwhile, a lot of eyes will be on the coaches on the sidelines, with the ageless Don Nelson going Back to the Future in his return to the Warriors, and Eric Musselman taking on his former team for the first time.
But don't forget that neither of those guys is going to throw on a jersey, for which we are all eternally grateful. Instead, we get to see the "Tru Warrior taking on the True Warriors", we get to see the Kings battle on national television for the second consecutive night, we get to see Kevin Martin and Mike Bibby try to keep up their torrid pace - to see them knock down threes more easily than picking up strikes in bumper bowling.
Given my precarious situation of needing to rely on other people (I hate that!), we're opening up the game thread early. With the game on TV tonight, I know we're going to have some serious real-time commentary here on Sactown Royalty. I'll join as soon as I can. If I'm here by the game's start, you'll know things went well. If not, then say a curse word for me. My heart will be here.
Let's go Kings!

Re: Game #8: at Golden State
Projected Starters are:
Kings
PG: Mike Bibby
SG: Kevin Martin
SF: Ron Artest
PF: Kenny Thomas
C: Shareef Abdur-Rahim
Warriors
PG: Baron Davis
SG: Monta Ellis
SF: Jason Richardson
PF: Mickael Petrius
C: Andris Biedrins
Richardson is coming back from injury, starting in their last game against the Raptors, playing 35 minutes but shooting only 4-13 from the field.
As a side note: what's the deal with my not being able to watch Warriors games on FSN: Bay Area in Sacramento? I get BDSSP reruns instead. That bugs me, and if anyone could tell me why, I'd really like to know.

Re: Game #8: at Golden State
Good news - I'm out of trade show hell, and plan on seeing our Kings play, despite the fact they start at 10:30 PM here, and I have a 7 a.m. flight! (Ridiculous, no?)

Nah....not ridiculous!!
Wish I could see the game tonight, I'm networking at a Stockton Symphony performance...Have to take the blackberry thingy i guess....
It's ON
The Kings are going to get hammered tonight in a high scoring affair (I'll probably regret that statement, but it's all in good fun). 123-109 Warriors. Expect little defense, except from that crazy fellow on your squad, and a lot of easy buckets.
If you haven't been paying attention to the Warriors, watch out for Monta Ellis (lightning fast) and Andris Biedrins. Both are young guns who have been playing well. Maybe not as well as KevMartin, but definitely stepping it up this year.
Also, feel free to post on our site and talk trash to the Warrior fans who frequent our site. But just like Sactown Royalty, you'll need a login to post. Trust me, it's worth it. For at least 4 games a year, you'll get to talk trash to us Warrior fans about how we haven't made the playoffs since Chris Webber's rookie year.
Re: It's ON
On behalf of Sactown Royalty and its visitors, we respect your interest in the game, your knowledge of the Warriors, your blogging abilities, and proper fandom. However, we must kindly disagree on a number of aspects.
- There is no reason to trash talk a franchise that has no worth. One cannot get worked up over something that lacks value.
- The Kings do not intend to get hammered. They also have been sporting a new wrinkle called "defense" (last night's game aside). This will not result in anything resembling 120+ points by either club.
- By crazy fellow, surely you don't mean Ron Artest? He of the perfect gentlemanly civility as a member of the esteemed Sacramento Kings franchise?
All the best.
Re: It's ON
You don't have to talk trash on our site, but I was merely trying to have some fun and foster a sense of continuity between our two sites and perhaps carry it across the SB Nation basketball sites as a whole. But it's up to you to perhaps not talk trash on our site, but leave a comment.

Warriors up 9-4. Sounds like we have some trash coming our way. And the pace is as you had suggested, fast, fast, fast.

Hey Kings! Where's the defense?!
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
Warriors still up by 10, 28-18.

Re: Game #8: at Golden State
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
Baron Davis has 11 assists in a quarter? Wow.
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
28 Kings 40 Warriors.... WHERE IS THE DEFENSE??????
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
Lovin it. I hope you like the run and gun style.
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
Oh, and Ron is back to jacking up crap from the outside. They got to value the ball; slow it down; and get back on d.
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
Bibby offense has been bad, but sometimes shots don't fall. But it's his defense that has been offensive. Last night and tonight, he has reverted back to his bullfighter defense.
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
Dunk by Martin! (15 points for that guy)
49-40, Warriors.
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
Hey, bottom line: THIS COULD BE A WHOLE LOT WORSE. Let's just keep it close, value the ball, and take high % shots. Golden State cannot play in the half-court effectively.
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
It's been very convenient that both game with TZ out have been televised. Makes my job easier.
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
I missed most of the first quarter. But when I tuned in, Gary Gerould said GS had SEVENTEEN fast break points. In the first quarter. Are you <bleeping> kidding me?!!
And three min into the second, Davis had a double-double?

Re: Damn, Martin is nice
Your pre-game projections are looking good. I hope that's just temporary. (Insert delusional observation here)
why aren't more warriors....
Also, what don't they get about rotating to the weak-side three point shooter? The Warriors have NO inside game. All they can do is go to the hole or shoot 3 pointers. Figure it out!

Re: Game #8: at Golden State
At the half, Golden State, 65, 53. Don't forget FJ predicted "123-109 Warriors." Looking pretty damn good. The Warriors already have 4 in double figures.
Even Ron...
They will need a great effort to have a chance. At the very least, they MUST:
- limit the turnovers to no more 5 - 6
- slow the game down by going inside out and moving the ball side-to-side and then taking high % shots. (thereby, limiting the Warriors fast break game)
Even then, it's tough to win on the road playing two nights in a row.
Re: Even Ron...
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
But then again, I'd hate to miss an awesome comeback by the Kings. </Wishful thinking>

Charles Barkley: Kings not a playoff team
Re: Charles Barkley: Kings not a playoff team
Do any of you think the Suns will stay in the fifth spot of the Pacific Division? They're 2-5 now, and 14th of 15 in the conference.

Re: Bibby's wrist
So do we really believe his wrist is hurting him any more than it did last night when Bibby scored 32? Is this just a small sample size? I think if Bibby scored 20, we wouldn't hear about it, but with him shooting 3/11, it must be the wrist. 5/11 or 6/11 and he's "recovered".
A miracle!

97-90 GSW.
why isn't francisco on the court?
Muss has coached a very bad game. Nice home streak. But good coaches manage games on the road. He hasn't yet this season. Jury is still out. (Chicago was lucky.)
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
103-92.
bibby scares me
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
My proposal
based on road performances
Still, we're 5 - 3. Not bad, but it's still all home cookin'.
Re: based on road performances
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
What - you're saying that's not going to be enough tonight?
And you're telling me we've been outplayed the entire game and haven't led at any point?
Okay. I get it. 113-101, with just over a minute to play.
Re: Game #8: at Golden State
oh so close
go Warriors! so this is what it feels like to have a nice record. even if it is short-lived, this feels good.
hey louismg and co, great job with the site and the open threads, keep it up.

(Warrior fans...you're praying every day that the Red baron stays healthy, right?)
