A Reminder To Those Worried About the Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are currently 9-7. After home wins agaist Utah and San Antonio (and despite a really bad home loss at the hands of Indiana last night), many Dubs fans are crowing about the drought being over.
Through 16 games last season, the Warriors were 10-6. Last season at this point, they had played 7 road games and 9 home contests.
This season, they have played 4 road games and 12 home games. If they're serious about making the playoffs, they should have a better record than 9-7 after that stretch.
Seven Western Conference teams have a better home record than the Warriors do so far, including every team in the Pacific.
The Warriors have played more home games than any other team in the West, yet they sit at 9th in the conference. Only the Lakers have played so many as 10 home games so far. The Clippers, Kings, and Phoenix have all played eight.
Not to rain on parades - I admire GSW fans' passion and excitability. But, yeah, don't print those playoff tickets just yet, okay?

A Reminder

Opening a can of worms!
I was SO tempted to reply but I remembered that the rest of the GSW people are great and a flame war directed at the poster below would be tacky. Besides, he mentioned bad officiating and the Horry buzzer-shot-of-doom from the Laker's playoffs of the past and guess what? Bad ju-ju hoops kharma struck - last night their game was horribly officiated and a buzzer beater sealed their fate. I didn't need to say a dam thing.
"Kevin Who?
Dude shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Ellis TTR and the Andris the Giant. I wouldn't trade AB or Monta for the entire Sacramento team. Seriously, I might not even trade Mickael Pietrus straight up for Kevin Martin. Guys like Kevin Martin are a dime a dozen.
Face it, Sactown Royalty, your team had its nice little run and -- thanks to some horrible officiating in the Lakers' favor -- blew their best and only chance. You'll never win a championship with any semblance of the roster you have now ... if ever. In two years the Warriors will view the Kings the way Cal football views Sacramento State.
And let's not even get into comparing Sacramento with the Bay Area -- unless you wanna talk about how comparatively cheap your real estate is. Your bragging rights are hereby officially revoked.

Re: A Reminder
We went through our tough times here, and we are lucky enough to have owners who turned an attitude of a franchise around. Olden Polynice anyone?
BUT, in that time, the Clippers have managed to make the playoffs twice. Grizzlies three times. The Raptors almost went to a conferance finals. Teams can accidentaly find a way into the playoffs. Look at the Atlantic, where their division winner might not be over .500.
Good luck to them. They score a lot and its fun to watch. I know the rest of the fans and readers on Golden State of Mind are not as harsh.

Uh Oh, here we go
As far as the home cooking. 8-4 ain't bad at home especially considering we've beat some very good teams: Dallas, Utah, San Antonio, Detroit. We've even beat the crappy teams: Sacramento. Haha just playing. The key of course will be how well we play on the road. Playing .500 on the road is a lot to ask, but will surely get us into the playoffs.
Also take a look at the number of games played. The Warriors have played 16 games (compared to the Kings 13), tied for the most of any team. The lack of rest and injuries (JRich, Baron, Ike, Pietrus) doesn't help. Hopefully the extra rest between games will cure the nagging problems and keep everyone fresh. So, yea we shouldn't be printing playoff tickets yet, but the schedule has not been easy either.
And yes we started 12-6 last year, but the head coach was Monty not Nellie. BIG difference. We spiraled out of control after the 12-6 start, I can't see Nellie letting that happen this year. Only time will tell.
Re: Uh Oh, here we go
Let's revisit this at the end of December when we're 32 games into the season (18 at home and 14 on the road)

Well, Warrior Nation...
The Warriors have been notorious let downs. Don't get me wrong, so have the Kings, but there is always talk of the Warriors making the playoffs, but then it all falls apart.
Yea, they had big wins against Western Conference juggernauts Utah and San Antonio in Oakland, but then they turn around and lose to a weak Eastern Conference team, Indiana.
I think Golden State will surprise a lot of teams in Oaktown this year, but come May it will be back to the drawing board with off season moves and more lofty expectations.

Re: Well, Warrior Nation...
Not every analyst is picking the Warriors this year. I'd say it's about 50-50. And the other time people picked my Warriors to make the playoffs was last year especially after the 12-6 start. Before that I can't recall anyone seriously picking the Warriors to make the playoffs. The team was just bad before that with not enough talent.
But you're right, the Warriors do always end up falling off. In fact, we've fallin off 12 years straight. Let's hope it doesn't go to 13.
