jjs has amply corroborated evidence he would know what's going on with Spencer Hawes, which is to say he's not bullsh*tting us. He says Shawes is doing well after surgery and should be back in a few weeks. He also kindly submitted this evidence Shawes is much cooler than his Rocky IV dedication would have you believe.

UPDATE: Sam Amick talked to Spencer's dad, who confirms. (That surgery was a success, that is. Not that Spencer appreciates some Juelz Santana.)

Just once I want someone to come away from a sports surgery and say, "It was a complete effing disaster."

Not because I wish ill of Hawes or anyone else, but come on. The "surgery was successful" story is so inevitable and so completely stupid. WE'LL SEE if it was successful

I love the contrast in Spence's posse between the tiny dude with the bling and sweet tilted bandana and the dude mugging with the Polo sweater vest. Definitely not a group of guys to mess with. Yo check yourself team dime.

chupacabra, the "tiny dude with the bling and sweet tilted bandana" is actually a pretty known rapper from New York, as TZ mentioned in the update. His name is Juelz Santana. So this is probably just a picture of 3 friends taking a picture with a rapper. I'm pretty sure Spencer Hawes and Juelz Santana don't kick it and go clubbin' or anything like that.

Sorry fellas, missed the fine print and not too up to date on the current crop of pop hiphop stars. I just stopped caring after Biggie and Pac. I heading right out to Barnes and Noble to pick up a Source magazine and get straight.
