Thursday Links & Notes

  • Apparently, Reggie Theus can do a good Francisco Garcia impersonation. If that whole Frank TV thing doesn't work out (but how could it go wrong?!?), maybe Reggie can slide back to the small screen.
  • Marty McNeal notes that all of Eric Musselman's assistants found work. Muss himself did not. Of course, none of the assistants got paid $5 million to go away.
  • Ailene Voisin seems to think Spencer Hawes' career is destined to fail since he had knee surgery this week. Or something. I don't know. You figure it out.
  • It's the Southwestivus! Jennifer Love Hewitt references, an appearance by Lady Ziller. What more could you want? (What's that? Funny writing? Better effort? Oh... noted.)
  • Basketball Prospectus is alive. And in very exciting news, Kevin Pelton will be writing on NBA topics. AWESOME.
  • Ron Artest broke Luke Ridnour's nose the other night.
  • Mike D'Antoni says no Suns will be playing long minutes tonight in Sacramento. We will get to see everyone but Amare Stoudemire and possibly Leandro Barbosa, though.

Re: Thursday Links & Notes
The Ugly One's column was, as usual, crap. Seriously, what was the point? It added absolutely, positively no value to the Hawes story or to the King's upcoming season generally. When will the Bee hire a real columnist?

Re: Thursday Links & Notes
So Spencer Hawes will be a bust.  Or a great player. Or something in between.  Thanks Ailene, very informative.
The only possibility she didn't bring up was that by the All Star break Spencer Hawes will shape shift into a unicorn and sprinkle magic fairy dust all over the crowd, bringing good fortune to all.

Re: Thursday Links & Notes
I've got 2/1 odds on this possibility. Any takers?

Re: Thursday Links & Notes
I'd prefer the parlay with "Spencer Hawes singlehandedly foils Al-Qaida terrorist plot".

Re: Thursday Links
Can we give it up for the greatest posting name and quote combo in a long time? Though I think you could have used one more Giants.

Re: Thursday Links & Notes
Hmm found an informative link on microfracture surgery... should probably throw them link.

Its from We Rite Goode, and further found from Deadspin, anyhow a very informative read about how microfracture surgery isn't quite the death sentence we all believe it to be.

Re: Thursday Links & Notes
Great site TZ, I've been lurking around hear for quite awhile. Created an account to pass on this:

The October 11th "The Daily Dish with Chad Ford" Has an interview With David Thorpe on breakout players for the upcoming season.

At one point Thorpe talks about the Kings having a shot at making the playoffs this year.

Can't get it to link the podcast, so here's a link to BBall homepage:

Re: Thursday Links & Notes
You can't link it. But there's no reason to. LIstening to the Daily Dish is a very easy thing for anyone just willing to click on espn's page.
