Mike Bibby Out 6-8 Weeks With Torn Thumb Ligament

The headline more or less says it all.

Sam Amick places the absence at anywhere from 19-32 games, depending on the remedy (rehab versus surgery). Instead of going with Francisco Garcia, Orien Greene, or Quincy Douby in the starting lineup, Geoff Petrie's talking about going out and getting a veteran on the cheap. Gary Payton, Earl Boykins and Mike Wilks are mentioned. There's also the possibility to pick up a one-guard from Houston, and I'd add Seattle to that mix.

More on the impact on the team later today.

Shit.

Not only is our PG position f'ed, but we're going to have to deal with the those other 12 power forwards that are BETTER than Andrew Bynum throughout the season.

Someone light up the doub.

I think this is good for Douby's development. This team needed to go with a youth movement anyways. While I'm not trying to bash Bibby as he is obviously an integral part of our team, but this could be a blessing in disguise for the future of the Kings.

Re: Mike Bibby Out 6-8 Weeks With Torn
Yeah, this is definitely going to crush whatever slim playoff chances the Kings had going into this year but if the rebuilding does occur at the end of the year with a trade of Bibby and Artest like everyone is hoping for, then all the extra minutes for Douby and Garcia are going to come in handy to see if they are going to pan out and be a big part of the future.  Time to start the draft watch fellas..

I would guess this also kills the chances of Bibby being moved before the trade deadline.  Doubt that anyone wants to take a chance on him comimg right off a major injury.
