Hawes Escapes Microfracture
... but he still needs to go under the knife.
The Bee's Sam Amick reports Spencer Hawes will have arthroscopic knee surgery Wednesday. There's no timetable for his return. This type of 'clean-up surgery' is usually a summertime rehab; Shareef Abdur-Rahim had this done in June and he'll probably be ready in November. But there's less invasive versions, too: Amare Stoudemire had a scope two weeks ago and he's good as new already. I'm guessing we'll know more Wednesday night/Thursday morning.
Avoiding microfracture -- which Shawes had on this same left knee at age 14 mind you -- was the victory here. So huzzah, I think.

Good to hear about the surgery...I think the microfracture talk was related to something that was reported in the Bee, but I'm not sure.
