GAME 28 vs Philadelphia, Preview & Game Thread
SACRAMENTO KINGS (11-16) 105.5 ORtg (#18), 109.1 DRtg (#23), 91.9 (#11)
BALLHYPE | NBA.com PREVIEW
Considering the Kings recently beat the Sixers in Philadelphia, and considering the Kings are tons better at home than on the road, you'd think this were a sure win.
But it's not that simple. Ron Artest kept Andre Iguodala completely out of the game two weeks ago; he can do it again, but after a string of tough defensive challenges (Carmelo Anthony, Paul Pierce), Ron's in a much less fresh position. His offensive load -- not easily apparent looking at shot attempts, but certainly present with Kevin Martin out and John Salmons getting bottled up a bit lately -- wears as well. If Iguodala's in this game, it's a tighter affair. Andre Miller has shown he can score all over Beno Udrih; Louis Williams has shown the Sacramento second unit's length and size doesn't deter his shot nor playmaking abilities.
Samuel Dalembert's worst game of Philly's recent hot stretch was against Mikki Moore; M.M. just abused Dalembert on cuts and delayed arrivals into the lane off guard penetration. It's a repeatable situation, but counting on 20 from Mikki regularly is fool's gold. Really, you need to hope Brad Miller is able to address the offense much the same way he did in Philadelphia -- by attacking with the shot, with the pass, and with the occasional drive. Reggie Evans isn't a good defender on the whole and should be exploited.
Sacramento should have the edge, but you never know with these things. On the whole, Philadelphia's a better performing team right now. They have some nice road wins. But the Kings have shown a different level of performance at home, even in the losses. Should be a fun game.
Tip's at 7. Go Kings.

kings fans need to stop crying
BIG DEAL, its not even a gay joke, its a making fun of the king's "toughness" i.e. women are not as tough as men. Now, I'm not saying that making fun of women is any better than men, but any insult is going to make fun someone. And it is an age old stereotype that women are softer and more sensitive than men. Stop trying to blow it out of proportion.
It just sounds like some certain QUEENS fans are bitter that lost and got manhandled by both the celtics AND the media after they took numerous cheap shots. Sure the celtics were talking trash, but were they hitting people on the head and trying to scratch out the other players eyes?

Beach Party
I'm calling for guaranteed win night tonight. Put it in the books, the Kings have this one down.
Let's just focus on Phoenix.

Justin Williams
Seriously. I don't get it.
OK, I am going to say something maybe a bit of a no-no, but I am really starting to believe that the reason he is not playing is because of the Kings organization. Maybe up to the Maloofs. 3-Wil had his media "black-eye" with his court issues at the beginning of the season and the organization (Maloofs and minority owners? Petrie?) have told Reggie to not play him any minutes.
I find it hard to believe but c'mon. It makes NO sense at ALL that he is not at least getting some of Spencers and K-9's minutes. He seems to be being penalized or something. What other excuse is there? Any ideas?

Free 3-Wil!
I do think that his legal problem does enter into it in small part due to the fact that it cost him almost the entire camp and preseason, and he could probably afford to have missed that time less than anyone else.
That having been said, I can't believe that you can't find this kid a few minutes a night, especially given the fact that as a team we get beaten like a drum on the boards every night, and we have seen what guys like Theo Ratliff and Sean Williams have done to us as shot blockers in short runs. Wouldn't it be nice if Justin did that for us every once in a while? Especially when you can find minutes for K9(woof!)?!?!?
Final thought...Why are the Maloof's always to blame when someone's hot dog is cold? If they were truly behind 3-Wil's benching he would be flat gone right now and Darryl Watkins would still be a King. All I'm saying is that while blaming it on the Maloof's might be more fun, blaming it on 3-Wil's missed time and/or offensive (in)ability is probably more accurate.

Agreed
Still, I'd love to see him get some limited minutes as well - his lack of court time is most likely strictly basketball related.

Good points
As far as thinking that the Maloofs would get rid of Justin instead of Darryl. Do you think that more people or less people would be up in arms if Watkins had stayed instead of 3-Wil. If the Maloofs (and possibly the co-owners, remember there are many other owners of the Kings that may have said something stern to the Maloofs about Justin) really do have an issue with 3-Wil and his court issues, getting rid of him would have been MORE of an indication of this and brought on more scrutiny on them then if they just tell Reggie to not let him get minutes. I am NOT saying that I believe that the Maloofs are responsible for 3-Wil's lack of playing time. I am saying that it may be a possibility that we have to consider especially since there is no real logical reason as to why he is getting absolutely NO time on the floor.
As for the argument that maybe Justin is not grasping the offense and his lack of a training camp, what about Spencer? He had no camp yet he plays every night. K-9(woof!) plays every night yet does NOTHING and even if the does know the plays, doesn't seem to be helping at ALL. Seriously, you can't get 3-Wil a few minutes on the court? What will happen? Will he be worse than Thomas? Anybody at all say yes to that??

Also...
That's it. No rebounds, points, whatever. Nothing. Nada. He does this game in and game out yet not even a single second for Justin? We all know that Reggie says he will give minutes to the guys that hustle and scrap and play defense. I'm really getting sick and tired of talking about this. Something is up somewhere with 3-Wil and the Kings organization.

I'm with you man.
Who subs out their starters with 10 minutes left in the fourth? Udrih and Moore should have already been on the bench and almost ready to come in. Theus has to play for the win, if that means Salmons, Udrih and Miller play 48 until Artest, Bibby and Martin are back then that's the way it has to be. What a fucking debacle of a home stand.
