Salmons Will Start; Martin Might Be Back Sooner Than Expected

Two notes of note from Sam Amick's blog: John Salmons will start against the Clippers on Friday, and Kevin Martin's injury might not keep him out as long as expected.

Groins are not whimsical. I'll be relieved when we see Speed go a full week without issue, not a moment sooner.

UPDATE: Amick updated the blog post right after I posted this, and confirmed the previously expected 4-6 weeks.

Say what? Kevin Martin's MRI taken today confirmed the right groin strain, and the four to six week window of recovery still seems to apply.

Here's the thing with Martin's injury. There isn't a good way to approach this. Only rest will help it.

Thank god Sam had that youtube clip of Kmart's buzzer beater against the Spurs in 06. That was fun to watch now even though it no longer really matters.

"Groins are not whimsical."

My wife would dispute that, sir.

I think she said, "You're whimsical about your groin."

We as a community have spent way too much time talking about Kevin Martins' crotch. Let's hope he comes back soon.
We are slipping into the NBA abyss.

Re: Salmons Will Start; Martin Might Be Back Soon
Basketball players and athletes in general tend to come back too soon after a groin pull. Bonzi tried to come back early from his a couple of years ago and ended up missing a couple of months. It's better if Speed let's this one heal. Maybe he can eat some potato chips and gain some weight while he rests.

Re: Salmons Will Start; Martin Might Be Back Soone
Can I just say that I expect a win against the Clippers. Yes, Kevin is an integral part of the team but we have a lot of swingmen that could step up in his absence. I really like the decision to start Salmons. I'm not saying that Salmons and Martin are on the same level but Salmons did a damn good job when Artest was out. A lot of you guys were wondering why GP signed him for the MLE and he has clearly shown our community that it was a good signing. If there is a position that we are strong at, it's definitely the SF/SG position. I would rather lose Martin for a month than lose Moore for a month (gasp!) simply because of the fact that I cannot bear the thought of K9 starting. I'm sure Williams would get more playing time if that ever happens but c'mon, we're the Kings for crying out loud! Kenny would surely play if given the chance :s :o

Re: Salmons Will Start; Martin Might Be Back Soone
Unfortunately with Salmons spending more time at the 2, I'm afraid Artest's time at the 4 will almost disappear. I'd prefer we let Salmons, Garcia and Douby pick up Kmart's minutes, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of K9 instead. I hope I'm wrong.

He may be out but they're still making a movie about him...
