Amick: Kings Want Gooden, Bulls Want Shareef

Sam Amick has been blogging fairly regularly at SacBee.com since last week, and he has some intriguing tidbits in today's post:

The Cavs could send Snow and Drew Gooden -- who I was told the Kings want -- for Bibby, but obviously that deal hasn't had legs. As for Brown, he matters only because a source told me the Bulls are interested in Shareef Abdur-Rahim.

P.J. Brown and the Knicks first-round pick for Shareef and either Vitaly Potapenko or Jason Hart if preferable to the previously mentioned Shareef for Mike Sweetney, Malik Allen, and a pick idea.

Bibby for Drew Gooden and Eric Snow, however: yikes. Snow is the worst starting point guard in the league. Ronnie Price is much better than Snow at this point. Jason Hart is better than Snow. He can't shoot, he can't drive, he can't set up his teammates, his defense is slipping, he's 33, he's getting paid two more season after the current one. If you take on Snow's contract without getting some rather serious considerations on top of Gooden, you're nearly conceding the next two years. Snow should've be playing more than 5 minutes a game in this league.

To take Snow, I think I'd demand Gooden, Sasha Pavlovic, and a future Cleveland first-rounder. (They don't have a pick this year.) Even then, I'd find myself a starting point guard immediately and stick Snow behind Price on the bench.

i love the idea of giving up bibby for gooden and mike james i think that move gives this team an edge seeing as bibby is pretty much a non-factor these days

Which is another reason to like him less than Jason Hart....

Frankly, I like the deal outlined on the earlier thread of bringing in Farmar, Brown & Mim's expiring contract from the Fake...er...lakers.i know the maloofs would rather not go there; but even if Farmar still needs lessons in distrubution, he's:

1)allready better than smushie.
2)allready a better defender than Mike bibby.
3)He's a briun. I'm in.

I've gotta think that Petrie could do better than Gooden/Snow for Bibby. I like TZ's scenario of adding Pavlovic and the first rounder. Question is, will Cleveland take the chance on giving up that much for Bibby, who could very well opt out? I just don't see it...

I think that if we're going to take back Eric Snow, we should see if they'll take KT. First of all, they're going to need a back-up if Varejao is going to be the man with the departure of Gooden. Second of all, Eric Snow is getting old and obviously has to feel like the twilight is near. Perhaps we can convince him to retire, and thus not have to eat his contract?

I don't know. I tend to think that Snow is a more valuable commodity at this point than KT. KT is younger, but those 4 years left on his deal make him a hard piece to trade. If we took on Snow, they'd have to take KT, otherwise, I don't budge on this one.
