Game 70 - vs LA Clippers

The old punching bags, back at ARCO.

That long winning streak against the ClipSet ended earlier this year, another notch in the bedpost of new-found mediocrity. But that game was in La La Land, which means to seven-year home win streak against Sterling's men is in tact.

The Clippers are on the blood-soaked edge of playoff contention, a scant single game ahead of Golden State. The Kings sit a distance away - 3.5 - whereas a win tonight would be intriguing and a loss final.

With that in mind, it's hard not to root for a loss. The sooner it's official (yes, it's still not official), the sooner Ronnie Price is freed. Justin Williams still has 10 games to make some free throws, dammit. Quincy Douby can get that rookie field goal percentage over .400, given the minutes.

It is beyond unlikely the Kings can rebound to make the playoffs. It is even more unlikely Musselman will concede given the scrawniest sliver of hope. Price, Williams, Douby - to Muss, that's concession. To us, it's a reason to watch. Hence, a large part of current frustration with the status of our roar-feeling.

That other old punching bag in town is Jason Hart, the hero of L.A. and last year's Sactown Goat. You knew he'd bounce back, and I'm sure he's got something for the Kings tonight. I'm sure Muss would love nothing more than to send Vitaly Potapenko in there and break Hart's tibia, as well. Hart seemingly started the whole public defenestration of Coach with that fiercely ridiculous blowup in the media of lies, damn lies, and playing time. Hart was inconsequential to the Kings' on-court situation; he was smoldering on the tip of a wick for its public affairs. That Marty McNeal dossier - misplaced, in my estimation - set this hell off.

No love lost anywhere on the court. Which could make for a brilliant game of attacks and counterattacks or boring bludgeoning of matchups. It smells like a bounceback for Speedracer, and Bibby's continued surge would not shock. Brand cannot be stopped save by Brand himself, and Cassell loves beating the Kings. If nothing else, since basketball soon closes in Sacramento, let's enjoy the professional game, warts and all.

I'll be in attendance, heartily calling for a Undoubylievable resurrection. Fingers crossed.

Get it over with indeed...
What's the point, really?  It would be so much better for everyone involved if the Kings just lost this game.

Stein makes an interesting point about homecourt advantage. Ill quote the part i think its most pertinent.

I know, I know. You, like me, are undoubtedly wondering why the league doesn't just do away with divisions and give playoff spots to the eight teams in each conference with the best records. You are undoubtedly wondering why the NBA has to make this so complicated.

But this is what the owners want. I'm told that it's a majority of owners, as much as anyone in the league office, which likes the idea of playing for division titles. It gives a wider range of teams an opportunity to chase a prize that at least sounds significant in theory, as opposed to those few legit title contenders chasing the real prize.

Whoa! You're gonna be at the game TZ? I'm still not quite sure if you're real or not, but if you hear someone booing K9 every time he touches the rock and yelling "Off with Muss's head!" that's me.

Re: Game 70 - vs LA Clippers
well, Kings got it to a tie with about 4 minutes left in the 2nd and then decided to jack up crap shot after crap shot. of course, half pint won't call a time out. so, with about a 1 minute left King back down by 8 and the clips have the ball.

this team is so inconsistent they are almost impossible to watch without throwing things at the tv.

Re: Game 70 - vs LA Clippers
half way through the 3rd.  bibby: horrible.  martin: impact. miller: rusty.  artest: well, artest - bringing it as usual. reef: non-factor

unless bibby and martin start going crazy this is going to be yet another home loss.

Re: Game 70 - vs LA Clippers
well, you can't blame this one on muss. this is just horrible individual choices and execution. grant keeps saying there is "no sense of urgency." well, for once, he's right. there is no intensity on the floor except for artest and corlis, who are actually playing like this game counts.

where is the energy? where is the intensity?

well, maybe i was wrong about the "can't blame...muss" quote earlier.  this team clearly wasn't prepared for this game.

oh, btw, jason is kicking bibby's ass all over the floor.

Re: Game 70 - vs LA Clippers
jason hart, mvp???

matter of fact the only glimpse i saw of this game was when he took bibby to the hole and then got a technical for taunting muss in the 3rd quarter

Re: Game 70 - vs LA Clippers
Hart hit a three in the second quarter and started jawing at Bibby. Mike ran him right into a Brad screen. I laughed.

Well, I tried to do my part last night.
had a gig at the lodi beer Co. from 9-00 to 11-00.When I saw it get close in the 4th(There was a big screen right next to the band that some kings fans were watching dejectedly), I tried to give them long-distance psychic energy, did "No Cows in Sight", & the venue told me to "turn down my energy while everyone 's still eating." ugh.The fans wanted me to keep it up, tho' so than a did a version of the Kings song, after which a fan said:"Hey....that had more energy than what's on the floor!"
Me in my mike:"Yeah...pretty frickin' sad....Not the way I wanted to see this season go..."

lol, I know you didn't mean my singing...after all, there has to be SOME reason the song has sold thousands of copies online despite how the team is  playing....
