Notes From the Grave

Things are going to get hectic very quickly - The Bee is reporting that Eric Musselman will be fired by Friday and Geoff Petrie is heading to Europe to scout players for two weeks starting Sunday. We're going to have our hands full quite soon.

So before all that happens, some notes:

  • Remember this season by an insane Ronnie Price dunk.
  • Kevin Martin has shown over the course of the season he is an incredible talent and will loom HUGE in Sacramento's future. We thought he'd break out before the season. We thought 'break out' meant 17 ppg on a true shooting of .590. He average 20 on .614 TS%. Star in the making. No - star's already here. Hell, how about a KevMar highlight video?
  • We'll talk more about this next week or so, but THANK YOU CORLISS WILLIAMSON! The classiest King of all time. I'll miss that guy, assuming he doesn't re-sign.
  • And finally, thank you to the best Kings fans in the world - the Sactown Royalty community. You guys and gals have stuck through a wholly unwatchable season with tons of great insights, hilarious lines, respectful debates, and terrific support for us fellow commiserators. Thank you, friends.

as i said after the laker game:

vitaly potapenko i bid you adieu

How can you trust a man who wears both a belt and suspenders? The man can't even trust his own pants.

Re: Notes From the Grave
The kings arent starting from scratch here (thank god). That aint cuz of the maloofs. The maloofs have good ownership qualites and bad ownership qualities. If it was easy everybody would be a good owner. Tough decisions and having the willingness to see them through makes a difference. These next few seasons (not any opinion by me) will show what kind of owners the maloof's choose to be. Thanks TZ for the excellent blog.

Re: Notes From the Grave
Speaking of Corliss....I thought i saw a hint of tears in his eyes after the game...which made me feel really sad. I'm sure this wasn't the way he wanted things to go down...

This is a great blog, TZ; your posts are insightfull, funny & sarcastic; & even when all of us disagree, we're reasonable in our airing of differences; we have no need for nazi-mods here, that's a testament to this community.

About coaching, I agree with pookey, I'd take the hedgehog. Or a really good college coach like Billy Donavan.

Re: Notes From the Grave
Just after i get done bashing you (rhondda) in 1 post...you agree with me in the next...PSSSHHHHAWWWW....1 thing about billy donovan..can he make the transistion yes...but why would donovan want to inherit a roster such as this 1?....also there's another reason i really want SVG...even tho he only coached 2 years..he was comfortable getting teams to play 2 different contrasting styles (more up tempo his first season...slow it down muck it up 2nd) and this is an important factor in a coach's durability in the league. Or from where i stand it is.

Corliss is a class guy. He's a guy i always root for wherever he goes. I hope he gets another ring or 2 before he goes. Its a little frustrating the team wasnt better and he couldnt have had more impact. That's a dumb reason i know. But it's the most outrage i can have over this group.

I'm also glad we can say (relatively) what we want. That makes this blog superior to quite a few other places (probably all).

Snicker,snicker...
yes, I'm as dichotomous as I'm arrogant, so i would expect you to disagree with me...at least half of the time. Why?Hell if I know, just for the heck of it?

i agree that billy Donavan probably wouldn't want the gig; but i think he's the caliber of college coach that could make the leap.

as for big Nasty, one of my fav DBB posts:

Re: Notes From the Grave
As already echoed by those above, much love and thanks TZ (with a nice dime assist from louismg) for a tremendous read day in and out all season long.  10x the entertainment and insight for 100% less than the crappy Bee sports section.  How bout that a testamonial....
Damn you Robert Horry!!!
