Untradeable? Psshh.

Consider this my response to any pundit who says Ron Artest will be untradeable this summer.

The pair are similarly efficient from the field, but Player B shoots a helluva lot more frequently. Player A is a superior rebounder by a decent margin, and a significantly better distributor and ballhandler. Based on the frequency of his shooting and the fact he can keep his efficiency above average at that high frequency, Player B is considered the better player, and surely is on offense by a not ignorable margin.

Let's add in that Player B is terrible on defense, and Player A is a contender for the NBA's All-Defense team. They start to look fairly even, right?

Player A, Ron Artest. Player B, Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony has actually missed more games due to disciplinary action/off-court drama this season (15) than Ron (5). Melo is untradeable in the sense that Denver would not even think about trading Melo for anyone. Artest is considered untradeable because no one would another chance on such a volatile guy.

Sadly, we've reached our wit's end with Ron's drama here in Sacramento and Geoff Petrie will seek out a market. But don't think Petrie will buy into the hype and offload him for chicken crap and a cheeseburger. Artest is still a very good NBA player, and the Kings should be able to get something significant in return.

The numbers don't lie. Our eyes tell us that Ron-Ron bogs down the offense, but the plus/minus #'s at 82games.com show us the team is better with him on the court than off.

There's always a market for a player of Artest's caliber. Question is, will Petrie deal him or does he see him as a piece of the future puzzle? He's not untradeable, but no way are we getting fair value.

Artest proved last season he can fit with this team, I believe it's the system put in place by Musselman that is to blame. With a different coach, and maybe a different style of point guard, Artest could absolutely be a key to this team's future championship contention.

Corey Maggette with Kevin Martin would be explosive in the wing player department and also lead the league in free throws.

Artest is tradeable. That diary i wrote had artest moving to miami which is the team i see making the largest push for a guy like artest. But if the kings are going to get dorell wright & cap room i can live with that. Period.

Send him to the Knicks. They have plenty of nice pieces we could use. Ron for Davis Lee and Frye or Randolph Morris. Getting Morris would be like getting another top 20 pick and I think Lee can be had if Artest is in the deal. Effectively we would get a starting power and a young athletic big, Salmons and Frisco can hold down the three and we can draft a center with our 1st rounder. Load up on bigs and waive the Poodle or sneak him in on the Knicks deal for Malik Rose/Jerome James or some other junk. Just a couple of thoughts.

We are slipping into the NBA abyss.

i would like it if we get frye and lee because the rebound issue will get better and lee is a good high energy guy. on rose, unless he's smart, doesn't like being on the knicks, so he might opt-out. but i think thomas can only be traded for bad parts (i.e. stephen jackson).
isiah has been trying to keep his bigs but the curry/frye combination, from old news, hasn't been working.

Don't forget that Player B is a whole lot younger and will continue to get better as he gains experience

I would never trade Melo away

I can live without Artest though

It's not like Artest is a dinosaur, he's only 27. The guy is going to be a very good player in this league for at least another 5 to 7 years.

Truth be told, I'm not the biggest Carmelo Anthony fan. He's a good young player, but there's just something about him that scares me. Maybe it's the body type, he looks like he may be fighting a weight issue his whole career, which in turn, means he could be fighting injuries.

Actually, his body seems kind of Bonzi-like.

to me thats lebron james not melo....but maybe it's melo too...they are both SF's...

I realize marty mac is annoying on some issues i wont argue. But this i gotta agree with:
