Chad Ford is dancing with Bill Simmons, and suggests the Kings dance with Miami:

If I'm the Kings, I try to get the Heat to take Mike Bibby and Ron Artest for the No. 20, Dorrell Wright, Udonis Haslem and the expiring contract of Jason Williams.

Miami is desperate. The Kings are going nowhere. Why not cut bait and rebuild?

I wouldn't, like, sing in glee or anything. I like Haslem a lot (and he's one of Kevin Martin's best friends). I'm intrigued by Wright. I would love to get my hands on a second first round pick. And cap space is good.

Like I said, this isn't Richmond-for-Webber. But tell me you wouldn't be satisfied with the full rebuilding effort.

I want to get rid of Artest as bad as anyone, but that's the most lopsided trade I've seen in forever. The Kings ought to be able to do (way) better than that.

This wasn't worth posting or reading the article. Miami would be the odds on favorite to win the next two championships and the Kings would be the worst team in the NBA for at least 5 years. Rebuilding and giving up aren't the same thing. Ford is a f@#!ing idiot.

The Kings would have a lot more cap space and five to six young pieces to build around. I'm not sure what their is to dislike about this deal. Either way rebuild and tear the house down and ship everyone out except the four to five young guys worth keeping, or we trade the pick and find more veteran help to try and win now.

Guess what? The first option is the better one. The Kings are not going to win with this team no matter who the coach is. Period. Haslem, the #10 pick, the #20 pick, Wright, Garcia, Martin gives the Kings a young nucleus to build around, and some cap room to go after some free agents next year. I see nothing wrong with this deal.

Petrie's work wouldn't be done, as we would now have a front line of Miller, 'Reef, K9 (woof!), Haslem and maybe Justin Williams. That's damn near $30 million (not including Williams) for a bunch a guys that can't block shots (not including Williams). That being said, if the trade takes place I want a seat on the plane that Artest and Bibby share to Miami (cue the "Odd Couple" music).

It's unlikely the Kings will be able to deal Thomas/Miller until next summer. They will both have to put up good numbers on a team. I'm all for seeing what we can get for Rahim and then showcasing them to be traded next summer. AT this point they have about as much value as my empty McDonald's cup on my desk.

IF Doleac had Miami pick up his option, and
IF Doleac were included in the trade,
THEN it would work cap wise,
EXCEPT that Miami would be at the cap with only seven signed players,
AND the Kings would have 13 players under contract, including Price and Williams but not including either of the draft picks.
This one is a pipe dream, as in someone was on the pipe when they dreamed this one up.

As for Yi, I fully expected you to tell us that he's the best player available at No. 5 -- you're the same guy that once touted the virtues of Darko Milicic and Pavel Podkolzine. You'll have to excuse me if I'm dubious of a Chinese star who A.) refused to workout against anyone, and B.) dominated the 19-and-under championships when he was lying about his age and happened to be 22 at the time. But hey, I've never seen anyone look better offensively while posting up a chair. So you might be onto something.

Chad: Podkolzine would've dominated the league had he: A. Been able to avoid brain surgery his rookie season
B. Had actually played basketball in a real, organized game before being drafted in the first round
C. Been drafted by the Hawks

I don't know if Miami would be willing to roll the dice on two guys who were reportedly at each other's throats last season, but I'd definitely jump on this deal. I think some of you guys might be underrating Haslem.

I'm not underrating Haslem at all. I think what it is is that he's a very effective role player who fits in well in Miami. The kings don't have those superstar player to fit alongside Haslem. Do they?

I am certainly not a Poodle fan. But Haslem isn't significantly better - especially when you consider he played on a much better team, took more shots, and played many more minutes.

If Haslem and KT were on the same team (any team, Shaq or no Shaq), Haslem would, without controversy, still be the starter and get most of the minutes. Therefore Haslem is an upgrade over KT.

Some teams collect swing players a la Atlanta Hawks, please let's not be the team that collects under sized power forwards and centers. If you are going to trade Bibby and Artest we better get someone who is 6-10 or bigger or the pick to draft someone 6-10 or bigger.

The Kings do not = the Hawks. So bringing up the Hawks does not matter here. We all agree the team should go big.

I was surprised by the comparison of Durant to Oden. Durant compared to the model who cheats on you all the time. Oden is the female you want to marry that's safe. Interesting analogy but it works.

I remember from the last game of the Mia-Dal Finals, Haslem hit a clutch open jumper in the closing minutes. I can't recall if it was their last basket or second-to-last. Either way it was big. In the post-game show they didn't even replay or talk about it. Anyway my point is even in clutch situations, he will quietly hit open shots and not dribble off his foot or get blocked. More than I can say about current PFs on the roster.
