Ha Ha Ha Ha - Whaaaaaaat???

This piece via Marty McNeal is my candidate for WTF rumor of the year. Basically, it notes that Don Nelson has had two recent meals at Chris Webber's Center Court Restaurant, so C-Webb could be joining the Warriors at any moment. This rumor is a lot like my last meal at Center Court - it's a small portion but it's still a little difficult to digest.

First, there is the matter of the chasm between Nelson and Webber. These guys supposedly made up some time ago, but it was this dispute that set the Warriors back almost 10 years. Does the time heals all wounds theory apply to the Warriors franchise, too?

Second, there is the small matter of the Warriors running about 300 miles an hour faster than C-Webb's one leg can carry him. The Warriors and Phoenix would have to be the worst fit for Webber. Wouldn't PJ Brown make more sense? I mean, how/where does Webber help this team?

I'm not trying to diss McNeal on this. In fact, he is to be lauded for digging up this little nugget on Don Nelson's dining habits. He did forget to add, however, that Nelson has also been courting Ruth Chris, Frank Fats, and some Italian kid named Pasta Pomodoro.

Clearly that story is a lie, because the food at Center Court is so incredibly average it's not possible for Nellie to have eaten there twice.

Now, I might believe it if you told me Nellie showed up at the bar, got sauced, fell down and started throwing punches, then Webber showed up, helped Nellie put his pants back on and dragged him to the car. Yeah, that's definitely more believable than actually going to eat there twice.

Center Court

I left there feeling empty, disappointed, and that I'd overpaid for the food.

I mean,the appetizer was great, the salad was OK, but the entree was horrible. The bus boy was arrogant enough to act like he owned the joint, but he had a great smile.

I left there feeling like I never wanted to go back, no matter how great the appetizer was.

In retrospect, the appetizer wasn't all that great. I just didn't know any better back then.

Whats even more hilarious

Is that ESPN decides this tidbit sensical enough to post on their rumors page. Just goes to show you they must have a trained monkey just collecting newspaper clippings, because any intelligent person would see right through this.

I mean, if you're going to try to court a guy - wouldn't you take him someplace where the food wouldn't be on him? "Yeah, I'll take up your time... and your money. Just think how awesome it' be playing for me - you 'd get to pa for my food everyday." I'm just saying, clearly this writer doesn't know how to treat the temperaments of the NBA player.
