GAME 44 vs Charlotte, Preview & Game Thread

Oh boy!

CHARLOTTE BOBCATS (18-27)  105.1 ORtg (#21), 109.4 DRtg (#21), 89.6 Pace (#18)
SACRAMENTO KINGS  (19-24)  107.5 ORtg (#16), 110.7 DRtg (#26), 92.4 Pace (# 9)
BALLHYPE | NBA.com PREVIEW

Each team has a distinct advantage on paper.
  1. Charlotte's point guards have been some kind of terrible. Raymond Felton can't shoot a Red Rider this season, and Jeff McInnis couldn't score at Mustang Ranch. (R.I.P.) Sacramento's defensive issues start at point guard, so you'd think preventing a 25-point outburst from Felton or an efficient 15 points (or so) from McInnis wouldn't be difficult.
  2. Gerald Wallace and Emeka Okafor might combine for 42 putback dunks. Sacramento's among the worst defensive rebounding teams in the league; Okafor is a killer rebounder on both ends and Crash's always good for a showstopper or three.
Remember that brisk affair last April? I'd pray for another one of those, as someone who likes to be entertained. But a tidy home win to get the Race To Respectability started off correct would be pleasant as well. Oh, also? Andrei Kirilenko, please. (Fascinating diary if you haven't read it.)

7 p.m. germs and madams. Go Kings.

The Bobcats barely won when the Clippers played without Maggette and Kaman. This has got to be a gimme like the New Jersey game.

IF I were a gambling man...
Sportsbook has the Kings favored by 8 points in this one, and a money line of -360 (A bet of $360 is required to win $100).

The over/under is 207.5, which seems low considering past shootous.

I'll follow Vegas on this one.  Kings win, but don't cover the spread.  Take the over.

Leave the gun, take the cannoli's. I have no idea why or where that is relevant to this discussion, but what the hell. Kings play down to the Bobcats level - they win but don't cover.

Miller Time
Okay, its official.   Please remove Brad Miller from the Hydra list.  He has come back this year and worked his "@#%" off.  He may not be the most gifted Center but the effort has been here all season and he is playing at the top of his skill set.

Bibby needs to continue to play well so we can trade the dude.  I like the chemistry better with Beno mushc better.  "Come on Cleveland make the deal"

Does anybody find this interesting
That they committed a bunch of money to Gerald Wallace, whose probably greatest offensive strength is o boards, aren't a particularly good rebounding team? It's not just G-Dub's fault, but he could certainly be better than he was tonight. I find that revealing about you G-Dub supporters. You only see what you want; not what actually happened and exists and all that jazz.

Brad
He looked like a top 10 center tonight. He certainly looked better than Okafur, who didn't look too bad either.

Brad counld be a keeper at this point. Maybe just surround hom with a couple of decent, fairly young PFs who have some upside (Nick Collison, Tyrus Thomas?) and an inside presence.

by pookeyguru on Jan 31, 2008 12:43 AM PST up reply actions

Well, sir
Get on it then. I'd like to hear this reasoning. It sounds reasonable that the Pistons could use him, but there's no way a straight-up deal between the two teams would work (unless they give up McDyess and Amir Johnson, which makes little sense for them).

I do admit, that a starting five of Billups, Rip, Prince, Sheed, and Brad will score. Alot. The question is what pieces they give up - Herrrman and Brezec can't be moved, which leaves all their rookies, Lindsay Hunter, Maxiel and Amir as the bait to get Miller. Hard to get $10 million of rookie contracts together that the Pistons won't say go furself about. Unless the Pistons sacrifice part of their core (not happening).

So, diary, sir. Special request.

They could have gone in to him in the post all night. Not sure why they don't keep milking something when it's working.

I also liked his little shovel pass to Mikey for the big jam that sealed the game.

Trade Spencer to the Sonics?
Since they are crap they might as well be young crap. They have a glut of power forwards and should move one to get Jeff Green more playing time. Maybe we can give them the hometown boy and Bibby for Watson, Wilcox and Delonte West, who is riding the pine for some reason. Trade works, too, and helps our front line while giving us more speed at the point guard position.
