GAME 33 vs Orlando, Preview & Game Thread
If three months ago I'd told you we'd be crushed because John Salmons couldn't go, you'd have laughed. And cried. And cried some more.
SACRAMENTO KINGS (12-20) 100.8 ORtg (#18), 104.4 DRtg (#22), 95.9 Pace (#11)
BALLHYPE | NBA.com PREVIEW | THIRD QUARTER COLLAPSE
I'm not sure how the Kings are going to score. If the Kings can't score, they'll have trouble coralling their own misses -- Orlando's #5 in defensive rebounding.
If you don't think defense is going to be a huge problem, I'd like to introduce you to Dwight Howard. You may have met his less awesome friends already this year... Big Baby Davis, Eddy Curry, Tyrus Thomas, Chris Kaman, Andrew Bogut, <any big man who has killed the Kings this year>. The only thing keeping Howard from 30 points is an early blowout.
It's going to be a long night, I'm afraid. Pay my boy Ben Q. Rock at Third Quarter Collapse a visit; he's got all the angles between the team's covered.
7 pm tip. Go Kings.
UPDATE: Salmons will fight! John Salmons will fight!

Salmons absence confirmed??
I don't care what the Kings injuries are, this team has passion, pride and getting blown out is not an option regardless of what happens.

Kings Problems
"Sacramento commits an NBA-worst 16.7 turnovers per game and also averages the fewest rebounds (39.6) and assists (17.9) in the Western Conference."

The Magic ain't a one man show
Van Gundy has that team playing well and with or without John Salmons, its gonna be a tough night for all the Kings' men.

John Sammons?
The Kings PA and the broadcasters still pronounce Beno's first name differently... two weeks after he explained it in the newspaper.

Udrih
Bonus: How many people spell it "Beano"? That's unfortunate.

concern
Theus needs to recognize when teams are likely to press at the end of games, and that Moore cannot be on the floor during those times. (Bring in ball handlers, coach!) My God, does that man have terrible hands or what?
I know that I wasn't the only not agreeing with Grant when he was declaring "game over" with about 6 minutes left. This team just cannot play 48 minutes of consistent ball.
Still, I doubt too many people would predict a Kings' win tonight, and they went out and got the W. And, as usual, the effort was awesome to watch. These guys play hard. Go Kings!

Now, if someone told me we'd win this game,
So, ShardLoo fouled out. What? He doesn't play enough defense to foul out. Charging plays, maybe? Trying too make something out of nothing with Dwight out and Hedo struggling (explained shortly)?
And Dwight's got four fouls... did he get in foul trouble early and was pulled out? 37 minutes of gametime says no, but Brad and Mikki's combine 28 points against the everglades beast... really? How?
Hedo goes 1-5 from deep - off night, or good d (and who was playing it? b/c Hedo's taller than everyone who doesn't qualify to play center on our team).
Douby? Legitimate?
JJ Redick gets ten points in eight minutes. What the eff, when were his minutes? Did they come late, early, in the middle?
Their starting guards v our starting guards = no contest. Bejeezles.
Both teams 80+% from the charity stripe. Wowsers.

The View From 214
There is a big blue tarp hanging in the rafters of the arena to help channel water from a leak in the roof. Do we need a new arena, or is this just a clever ploy from those Maloof rascals?
Dwight Howard scored early, but Brad Miller scored late, driving the lane on several occasions. The end result between Howard and Miller was closer to a push than we could have ever dreamed.
Quincy Douby had his best run since the Golden State home game last year.
John Salmons is a tough hombre. Dahntay Jones is tough hombre II.
I like Mikki Moore. I really do. But those hands!!!
It was easy not to like SVG tonight, and Reggie looks much better on the sidelines.
Bibby and Hedo had a very nice conversation coming out of a timeout. I wonder if C-Webb is in town and if they hooked up. Good times.
Remember how this team used to struggle offensively whenever Miller wasn't on the floor? That honor has been passed on to Beno Udrih.
End transmission. Begin sleep.

Putting the Starters Back in, Up 18, at 88-70
If Theus had left the subs in, Orlando was just about to wave the white towel. A ciuple more buckets would have about done it. Instead they gained new life.
Milk what's working until it stops working, no matter how unusual the source. Kind of like Redick leading the Orlando comeback.

Those particular words should never be arranged in this sort of sentence again.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
