Channing Frye? Channing Frye???

OK, taking crap from Shaq or Phil Jackson is one thing, but Channing effing Frye? On his blog (which appears to have a robust following of three people) Frye determines that we are the worst NBA city for a road team to visit. He also thinks that Kevin Johnson will lose the mayorial election.

I won't be at Thursday's Blazer game, but I would be thrilled if the fans in attendance would let Channing (if that is his real name) know how we feel about him visiting our fair city.

Your invitation to my birthday party has been rescinded, Channing. You are dead to me.

that pic
First, I have that same cell phone and it's huge. Yet in his hands it looks like a freakin' razr.

Second, and more importantly, is he wearing a mini boom box as a belt buckle?

Someon told me...
Dear Channing,

I haven't been there myself, but someone told me the nudie bar on Richards has blonde dwarf strippers in Ugg boots.  I'm not sure how I know this, but I think you might enjoy that type of thing.  You should  check it out.

Sincerely,

Carl

Please, God?
Get rid of the Ugg boot outside of anyone's home if they live in California.  Please?

Yes, they are warm and comfortable but they should never be worn outside the home of the wearer. Besides, it's freakin' California, unless you're in Tahoe your feet are sweating like Hell in those ugly boots.

Please do the same for Crocs. Burn them to death.

Please, God?

Subject change.  He's 6-11, she could just be a normal 5-4 girl in hoochie clothes and bad boots.

She probably listened to this song and dressed accordingly.

I have a couple of co-workers who dress like this on casual Fridays, and one friend who dresses like this when she goes out.

Yeah, our casual Friday attire is out of control.

I have four brothers, I know exactly what guys think when they see a woman dressed like this...jackpot.

Not that I wear a burkha, but there are far more alluring (less cheap) ways to look cute.

But, hey! I'm not trying to bang an NBA player in town for one night.

God bless you, Corliss. You always played as though you knew how expensive my tickets were. -section214

what?
I was unware that short skirt + oversized coat = NBA skank. For all we know that broad's wearing a long sleeve shirt underneath that. I love reading too much into things.

I still think the most interesting thing about that pic is the boom box belt buckle

Old Sac ain't cutting it....
People talk crap about there being nothing to do in Sac (for 20-30 somethings that aren't ghetto or well enough known)...sad but true.  Hopefully, it doesn't stop us from getting a good free agent though.  Guess we need more sould food joints, dance clubs & strip clubs...old sac & gazing at our awe-inspiring bridge to west sac ain't cutting it.
We need more cowbell.

money talks
yeah, sign a deal for multi-millions and i'd live just about anywhere...cwebb sorta did that when he broke the bank here.  Sac is great for a player with a family raising kids or has a chill personality, but a single young gun would be bored out of their mind (i was).  going to "The Park" and being jocked by wannabe-vegas partiers has got to get old real fast.  maybe that's why bibby hung out at chili's...lol. i wonder what kmart does for fun around here other than speed on the freeway?

K-mart's free time
Funny story (maybe) about Kevin Martin. During his rookie year I made one of many pilgrimages up to Rancho Cordova to enjoy the ladies at Gold Club Centerfolds. I was chatting up one of the dancers while watching the game and she was telling me about all the Kings-affiliated people who come in. (I'll get to Peaches in a minute, promise) She goes on to tell me that one of the rookies on the team that season (either Martin or Ricky Minard) had come in with a wad of money and after a couple of lap dances offered her $300 for...well you can guess. Anyways, I was skeptical of her story until she told me about Peaches. In a quote that I still laugh about to this day she said "Yeah, Grant Napear comes in here all the time and he's a big jerk!"

There, I hope that makes up for me bashing Sac earlier.

on a certain level
He has a point

In terms of things to do after a game, I can't imagine there is a lot to do in Sac, is it getting better yeh, but its not NY, San Fran or Atlanta.  Having said that I can't imagine Milwaukee or Charlotte scream good times either

Ummm, what?
Granted, I'm in Stockton so I can't really deefend my city but really? You guys are surprised by this? Or at least this still affects you? Sacramento sucks and I thought that was just a generally accepted thing. Hell, I hate the city. If it wasn't for the Kings I'd probably never go there. Ok, maybe the occasional Centerfolds trip but past that never. The bars suck, the women aren't hot, the malls blow, apparently nobody there can drive, and a lot of the people I run into there seem to have the "I live in the capital of CA so I'm better then you" air about them.

I will meaintain until the day I die that the worst thing about the Kings isn't their lack of defense, shoddy rebounding, inability to make free throws, or their inability to keep a comfortable 4th qtr lead. The worst thing about the Kings is that they're in Sacramento.

Not that Stockton would be any better of a choice, but come on, kill the indignation. At least Salt Lake City's pretty to look at.

Point taken, Muff
But taking civic criticism from a Stocktonite is a lot like taking 3 point shooting advice from Anthony Johnson. You listen politely, shake your head a couple of times, and then you move on, forgetting that the whole thing even happened.

Hey, that's why I prefaced what with my hometown. By the way, anybody wanna come do a concert at our arena? Come on, sure, it's an hour from 4 other bigger cities with better arenas, but hey, us too guys! Right? Oh, we're not on par with San Jose, Oakland, SF, and Sac? Damn. asparagus
We're agreed there. The asparagus festival is next month and I can't wait. Aparagus wrapped in bacon is still my favortie food. Amazingly I'm the only person under 200lbs who wraps food in bacon. Oh, and our festival is more exciting than Cal Expo's State Fair. Although if the new arena moves to Cal Expo that might change.

Don't Stocktonites just like the Asparagus Festival because for a few weeks they have an actual excuse for the stench in the city? It's the Food Festival equivalent of blaming farts on your dog...

Defending my hometown
The thing is, Stockton realized some good would come from a new arena and it has helped revitalize its downtown.  And if the murder/violent crime/car theft/foreclosure capital of the USA can figure it out, its a shame the capital of California cannot.

By the way, Sac is a total dump.  How it ended up the capital of the best state in the country is still beyond me.

to recap
Nah, not a big fan. Although if I were a woman I'd love the fact that there are appoximatly 306 malls there. I thought stockton having 2 malls across the street from each other was bad. Then I went to old sac.

Sacramento's at the tipping point.
The problem with Sac is that it's not very walkable.   But venues and nightspots are springing up, look for everything to move back downtown.

Let's get real here
Let's get real here and understand that an NBA player's idea of a good road city is directly proportional to the number of nightclubs and nudie bars within walking distance of the team hotel.  Visiting teams are staying at either the Sheraton, Embassy or Hyatt, and the nearest naked boobies are on Richards Blvd.

Yes, we have three of them
It's true that we do have three cabs in Sacramento.  There's been talk of a 25% expansion in cab availability, but we're not sure the city can support that many.  Plus, what we do with the extra hour we're used to sitting around waiting for cabs?

But that equation doesn't work
with Earl Boykins.& I dig Stockton. But I live here & the neighborhood south of UOP is the best place to be:Walkable, tree-lined & I can jam all night & the police only complain when I stop playing, not when I start.

Haven't spent enough time in Sac to form a civic assesement;I'd  have to take you guy's on your word about the nudie bars. The last gigs I had in Sac was in oldtown & at the Zoo, so I'm totally ignorant on what's up at Hooters.Don't care.Though I'm sure this issue is of vital interest to NBA singles.
