A few of us left some comments over on Channing Frye's blog after section214 apprised us of his bold opinions on Monday. Channing took the time (possibly during the 31 minutes he spent on the bench last night) to respond:

Goodness, gracious! I hadn't expected all these responses, especially from all the die-hard Sac fans who I definitely appreciate. It's JMO, guys.

I guess cause I'm so spoiled by what a tight city Portland is, that when I visit Sac for a day or two, I don't see what there is to do. But, hey, I'm willing to check things out if you want to send suggestions my way.

Just to be clear though, I don't go partying when I'm on the road and I don't go to strip clubs (and I've never been to Avalon -- what's that about???)

Anyway, y'all, thanks for the comments. I love hearing from everyone.

You heard it, folks. He wants suggestions. The Blazers should be spending Wednesday night in Sactown, so if we round up some options for Frye, I think I can get them to him by then. ("Choke on a Squeezeburger and die" is not an appropriate suggestion. For Frye, at least. Robert Horry? Yes.)

RPM Race Place on Bradshaw! That's some fun $hit right there! But I don't know if they have carts for 6'11" types. Or how about the Sacramento Raceway on Excelsior Road? Open races every Wednesday night! Or for a trippy experience, how about Ethiopian Food at Addis Ababa on Alta Arden? You eat with your hands! Good stuff and a nice experience from a different culture. Or maybe even the human body museum...and best of all, because of his job, he can witness the young talent of our Sacramento Kings from his courtside seat!!!!!

Wedensday Itinerary for Channing

2:00 PM Arrive at Sac Int'l Airport. Make way over to "A" terminal and tour the food court.

2:15 PM Eschew team bus and hail a local cab.

2:30 PM Keep hailing.

2:45 PM Any minute now...

3:00 PM Take cab to railroad museum. Check out the L-Train exhibit.

4:00 PM Joe's Crab Shack. Tell 'em Mikki sent ya'.

5:30 PM - 6:15 PM See above instructions for hailing cab, then head downtown.

6:45 PM - Walk around Capitol (hey, Bill Walton loves to do that when he's here).

7:30 PM - Check into hotel.

8:00 PM - Change into velvet sweats/belt buckle boom box and head for the lobby.

9:00 PM - Starbucks.

9:30 PM - Hook up with TZ and coolcat for a little clubbin' - Voodoo Lounge and/or The International House Of Pancakes.

1:00 AM - Ditch coolcat, hang him with the check.

2:00 AM - Back in room, watch "Blue Chips" starring Nick Nolte, Shaquille O'Neal and Anfernee Hardaway. Sit on hard chair to simulate game action the following night.

2:15 AM - Light room service (no chesseburgers).

4:30 AM - Lights out (except for the little ducky night light that you bring on the road with you).

Ah geez, I didn't think the guy actually wanted something to DO late on a weeknight.

SkyBar Cafe has Salsa dancing on Wednesday nights, seconding Blue Cue and Harlows, Marilyn's on K has a games and music night that might be cool.

Watch out walking around K Street late at night. We're giving you crap here, but that doesn't mean we want bad things to happen to you.

This is kinda dumb

If Frye isn't the partying type, then what does he really want to do in Sac after a game? If you're out on the town on a weeknight after 10:00 it either involves partying or big fake tits in your face for $10, and not much else. So, what does he want? A night at the opera? The ballet? French film festival?

Let's see, I haven't lived in Sacramento in about 10 years.

Is Lazer-X still open over by Country Club Lanes? That was a rockin' good time. And then, once you're all sweaty, you can walk over to the Tower Records (is that still open) and wander around for a few hours. Then wait til your mom comes to pick you up.

Oh, I should mention that I was 14 when I moved away from Sacto. Some of this may not be as fun anymore.

not that I like talking about this but...

You forgot a couple other things that kept us from a champinship, like free throws HE missed, disappearing during the most important 5 minutes of his career, dogging our best player for carrying the team for most of the season while he was injured, refusing to have a reduced wole, lax attitude towards post play...I could go on.

Fun in Sacramento

Food: Yeah Nationwide (21st and H) makes a crazy good burgers, but for something a little more upscale, how about...

There's nothing fancy about the ambiance but the best Madras-style Indian food anywhere in Northern California is at Kaveri (1148 Fulton, north of Fair Oaks).

How about places that serve food late

Last time I was in Sac for a Kings game, my problem was finding a place to eat after the game. This I imagine is a problem for the players too. Game ends, they have the after game meeting with the coach, they have to do press conferences, shower, change, then there's no where to get any food. We ended up at Tapas the World which was mediocre at best.
